We took DS last year when he would’ve been 6…he loved it. Enjoy!

I'd have said Lion King was easier for a younger child than Mary Poppins.

If you can afford it, recommend you sit in stalls for a more interactive feel.

He will enjoy it but probably won’t remember it after for very long.
As long as he can sit still and not disrupt the enjoyment of others around him then it should be fine.

This is key. Tickets for that sort of show are not cheap. Nobody wants to be spending £50+ on a ticket to be next to or behind a smallish child who can't sit down and shut up.

We went to see the Lion King pre-lockdown, there was a family a couple of rows down with a small child (about 3) who was so over tired and fractious that they had to leave at the interval.

I'd rather be sitting beside a small child than a pissed adult, which seems to be more of an issue these days.

He wouldn't disturb anyone (I wouldn't let him!). He sat through MP and that's was 3+ hours. Performance info for LK says 2.5 hours and under 3s not admitted. Agree it's poor form to let a child disrupt others enjoyment, hence asking the question 🙂

You know your child best, and if he's already "done" Mary Poppins then there's no reason he couldn't do this.
I agree with above that if you can afford stalls the cast perform a little with the audience.

In saying that whist the stage craft was brilliant, the singing when we went was school play level awful and DH and I were gobsmacked that we had paid over £200 to see some very mediocre acting. It was shockingly awful. DS however loved it.

On the same trip we saw Matilda (excellent 10/10 - but possibly dulled now the movie has been done of the show) and School of Rock which was unbelievable (now closed so no help to you)

I took my 6 year old to see lion king last month. She loved it. She didn't sit very still and kept standing up at times but it didn't affect the people behind us and there were lots of children in the audience also wiggling around in their seats/standing up so it was fine.
I'm really glad we took her, it was a lovely experience!

DD went on a school trip when she was 7, she really enjoyed it.
