If DC are 9-12, do you do pocket money?

And if so how much and what do you expect them to buy with it? DC are 10 and 12 and currently don’t get pocket money. I buy all their stuff plus if they want trinkets etc they might do additional jobs to earn money to pay for them (on top of basic things they are expected to do like dishwasher emptying etc). Wondering if I should start giving pocket money and interested to hear other’s approaches.

£40 per month Go Henry. DS will switch to a bank account end of the year.

£10 a week on card, it is expected to cover sweets, treats going out with friends and food when they go out, make up, extra clothes presents for her friends but not relatives, I pay her phone and dinner money and in Scotland bus travel is free. I encourage her to save half for bigger things, her birthday/ christmas etc money goes on card but it is locked so she needs to ask for release as it can't be spent on chewing gum and doughnuts!

DD got pocket money since she wouldn't eat it! About 3. Always her age every fortnight.

It is not based on chores and she buys all tat herself. I don't control it. If she wants to but sweets and gaming stuff, she can. She has learned herself that this isn't worth it. She's a saver as a result.

and if her money runs out I do not bail her out she has to go without until next lot due, I also don't do advances

I give $1 per year of age per week. 12yo saves and will spend $20/nth on Roblox and occasionally shout a coffee

15yo will spend a bit on Xbox games and he does air soft with friends so has to pay for at least one session a month $20

5yo spends on toys

This is VERY important. Even if she has the money but didn't bring it, we go and get it and go back. I never ever advance. We shouldn't teach our children how to get into debt!
