Crows fighting with Magpies

Hi

I've noticed at least three crows fighting with Magpies in a tree near my garden . Are they after territory or are the after destroying the magpies nest ? I kind of feel for the magpies as they have been their years . They share the tree with a couple of wood pidgins but they seem to get along ! I've noticed it's only the magpies that the Crows seem to bully

I Googled about this, and it seems crows and magpies don't tend to get along much.
I have seen crows try to eat a wood pigeon alive, and magpies the same with a starling.

Yes, they're fighting for territory as they don't get on at all. Now, magpies do get on with other corvids, just not carrion crows and ravens.

It's a territory thing. Watch them join forces though if a Kite or small Sparrow hawk turns up. I think it's 'worrying' to fend off anything larger than themselves.

They’re always scrapping in my garden, but when a seagull turns up they seem to join forces to get rid 😂

Time of year as well though, it all goes a bit mad now for a few weeks whilst all the males scrap over females. We’ve had three male ducks having a right good fight this evening.

They are both wanting the territory. Every Spring we get these massive fights over a particular tree. Once they have settled the fight (over several weeks) that is it until the following Spring. I have both species foraging in the garden and raising their offspring during the rest of the year so I figure its just nesting rights.

I think the magpies win as it is the crows that fly off first. It's usually early morning they start . Not sure if the magpies raised any young last year . I did wonder if the crows managed to raid the nest
