How different are your kids from each other?

Asking out of curiosity as most people I know who have 2 say their 2 are completely different.

DS1 is 5 and DS2 is 1 and they are completely different in just about every single way. even things like DS1 sleeps in one position and DS2 moves in his sleep approximately every 30 seconds. DS1 was a picky eater, DS2 loves food. DS1 was quite introverted and cautious, DS2 likes nothing more than hurling himself off every available surface.

have most people found similar? It’s honestly really surprised me, I know they’re different people but they’re complete opposites in personality so far!

Mine are a bit older than yours but v similar in each of these things and the same oldest/youngest attributes! I think a less adventurous eldest is fairly common (amongst my friends at least) which I’ve always assumed was because the oldest is looked at so much more than the youngest… Can’t account for the sleeping differences though!! 😂

Mine are only 3 and 1 but they are the complete opposite of each other.

I have twin girls, they're like chalk and cheese, always have been (19 now)

Does anyone have kids who are similar? That’s a good point @BadgerFace , I guess the younger one sees the older one doing things and learns from it and now we just don’t have the time to constantly monitor the youngest like we would’ve done the older one

I have four and none of them are the same! They're 20, 14, 6 and 6. Some have similarities to others but they all have different strengths and interests. My youngest ones are twins and complete opposites!

Binfire · 01/03/2023 21:20

Mine are all very different from each other too, but when compared with other people’s children they’re actually very similar.
I’m not sure if that makes sense entirely, I suppose I’m trying to say that as a parent you can’t help but compare them and spot the differences but they’re siblings and they will actually have a lot more in common than you think. Maybe that becomes clearer over time as my eldest is now 16 (youngest 8, middle 12).

DS14 blond, shy, introverted
DD10 dark, bubbly, extroverted

KohlaParasaurus · 01/03/2023 21:38

Mine are all adults and are totally unlike one another. The only two you might pick out as siblings are the oldest and youngest, both girls. I have three stepchildren and they are also all as unlike one another as can be as well as being totally unlike any of my children.

threeplusmum · 01/03/2023 21:46

Both my girls are kind of polar opposites, eldest is very extroverted and youngest is calm and very smiley and cheeky, might be due to the fact they have different fathers and have inherited different personality traits.

VintageThoughts · 01/03/2023 21:52

Extreme opposites. Couldn't be any more different

DS dark hair and skin, brown eyes, unimaginably laid back

DD blond hair, beyond pale, blue eyes. Stresses about everything.

They do share the same sense of humour but that's literally it.

Bunnyishotandcross · 01/03/2023 21:54

I have 10 + and there is similarities between a pair here and there. 1 dd and 1 ds very similar.
In some photos physically similar but to me none particular irl!

otherwayup · 01/03/2023 22:00

Mine are 22 & 18

Physically they are incredibly alike, they could be twins but that's where it ends!

Dd is loud and very chatty. She loves my company and follows me around chatting away when we're both home.
You can hear her coming a mile off!

She loves dancing and generally being the centre of attention.

Ds is incredibly quiet, almost withdrawn at times. He moves around the house silently and often makes me jump when he just quietly appears in a room.

He only says what needs to be said, something my dd could do with copying at times 😂
He's probably more like me, so I 'get him' more than dd, although I'm much closer to her really.

ladygindiva · 01/03/2023 22:28

I've got twin DDS and they are exactly like your two, different in the same ways. Its fascinating.

botheritsgone · 01/03/2023 22:43

They have similar hobbies and passions but come at thing from complete different ways. One laid back, flies by seat of pants, slap dash and disorganised. She is always very happy and optimistic. The other is meticulous in everything, over thinks things gets very anxious and hates making mistakes. She is possibly more capable to onlookers but struggles so much trying to be a perfectionist.
One is very sassy and the other is very quiet.
They look absolutely nothing alike. One like dad. One like mum.
However they are absolutely devoted to each other and would be their sisters' fiercest defenders.
