Haa anyone else got this horrific cold?!

I swear I wish I could die!! I know it sounds pathetic but I have got thru 3 big boxes of tissues in the last 2 days! I am now having to re-use old dry ones as I have just run out and no one can get more. It's utterly miserable. My nose literally goes into spasms and then I get this explosive sneezing and can't stop. And the soreness is horrible too. I use balsam tissues and yet my nose is raw.
I do get heavy colds but it's been years since I had one like this. Has anyone else got this and care to join me in my misery?!

The problem is that the tests don't always pick up new variants

Yeap I’ve had it and my nose was pouring, I too went through boxes of tissues and my face was all red and blotchy.My eyes were stinging and I was exhausted.I finally feel better 2 weeks later, the only good thing was that it never hit my chest.It’s a really nasty one.I also had it at Christmas.

That sounds like exactly cold I had and i was amazed mine didn't go on my chest either! Instead it went to my sinuses and now I have awful ringing and deafness in one ear. The doc prescribed sudofed which is making me feel like I've got another cold and I keep going dizzy. DS had the same thing happen. He was crying with the pain in his ear. The doctor said we have to let it run its course. It took 2 weeks for DS to get over it.

I had something like that these last two weeks and it turned into tonsillitis! I never had had it before now but last week I managed to get an appointment with the nurse at my gp centre last minute and they prescribed antibiotics because I'd had a temperature and flu like symptoms all week, but only a few days into it, did I think to look down my throat 🙈

I wondered that. My husband had a very bad cold /flu July last year. Lasted a month. He ended up coughing blood for weeks after. I tested him for covid 3 times during- all negative. He would not go and get as PCR test unfortunately so we don’t know for sure. But I think he did have covid. I tested myself twice during that time as I felt unwell with sore throat and aching bones for a few days, but not bedridden. My tests were negative too.

I'm trying not to completely freak out here as my hearing still hasn't returned in one ear. I get this constant ringing and there's no movement inside. The sudafed does nothing. It's been a week now and what if it doesn't return? Dad said its the same ear he has problems in and he has to wear a hearing aid. He says I'm turning into a oap already 😔

It can take a few weeks for hearing to return but it will come back

Thanks so much. I was stupidiy googling loss of hearing in one ear last night! I thought it was coming back as I held my nose and blew out gently and it cracked inside but it's like it was now. Never had anything as bad as this before. Not sure whether to go back to the doc and get antibiotics or persevere with the sudofed

Yes but to be honest (to me) it is not horrific, just damned annoying. I never used to suffer from colds. Every year the rest of my family would go down with a cold at Christmas. My Dad was famous for wearing the dressing gown of doom, plus a cravat around his neck and a bottle of whisky in his pocket!

But now I do. I get very very snotty. Either very runny or crusty (sorry!). The annoying thing is I have been told by the chemist not to buy cough mixture or stuff like Lemsip but I feel I need to get rid of all the mucus. Bloody hate blowing my nose and there is not enough hankie for all that comes out! Eeek!

Yes it's not your average cold, is it. Really unpleasant and impossible to work on through.

I have this at the moment. My nose will not stop running, blocked ear, going into my chest now. I also had diarrohea but that's stopped. Horrible dose

I have it at the moment. It's the heaviest cold I've had in years. It started on Friday. DD said to me that my nose is a 'mega mansion of snot'. I feel awful, I can't sleep. The cough started yesterday and my voice keeps going.

Whoops! Left off most annoying thing. On a normal day/night i piss for England (Incontinent plus pills to make me go even more) nd then now with this cold it is quite a tsunami!

Blimey, it's a bitch of a virus isn't it?! I'm on day 12 and my hearing still hasn't come back .Been given antibiotics and inhaling vapor rub isn't doing anything. I fear I will have to wear a hearing aid soon. Absolutely terrified it won't return!

Well, my horrendous illness has now revealed itself to be Covid. I wish I’d tested earlier.

That's what happened to me and I'm left with deafness in one ear which won't clear..it's the 3rd week now and nothing. Been prescribed antibiotics which have made me feel sick, dizzy, have a really bad taste in my mouth and I even feel spaced out & depressed. I'm stopping them. They're called Clarithomycin. Vile! ..horse pills as my DM would call them!
And still no return of my hearing. I'm terrified it's gone forever.

Is yours Covid? I’ve also gone deaf in my left ear…

Oh OP I feel your pain. I'm out the other side not but I coughed so hard I strained my ribs which made my life ever so miserable. I hope you get better soon 🍵

Yeah, it started as that and then became sinusitis and an ear infection. I can't believe you are suffering the same thing! How long have you had the deafness?
