Do you think same-year pregnancies feel quicker?

lighthearted

I was talking about this with a friend. How she felt DD1 pregnancy flew in as she was pregnant Feb-Nov, but felt pregnancy with DS1 was a drag as she was September to June, and felt like going through Christmas and it being a New Year made it feel 'longer'. Whereas her Feb-Nov was a same-year pregnancy, which made it feel faster.

I've not had a same-year pregnancy but tempted to try for one if it hurries it up at all, although next month is my last shot! 😁 (definitely not possible to time these things, for me anyway!)

However, for those who have had both, do you think this has been true for you?

Yep for sure

first: august to May - slow and dragged on

second: last March to December - flew by. Summer went quickly and then autumn and that was it. However they could also be. Exwuse I was just busier with my pre schooler

What made my 2 pregnancies seem to go slow ‘ quick was when I actually found out I was pregnant. 1st pregnancy found out at 12 weeks, so was only knowingly pregnant for 28 weeks, born in March. 2nd pregnancy knew at 3 weeks, so 37 week pregnancy. Born December. Both 2 weeks overdue though!

Absolutely! Ridiculous really, but I much preferred my same year pregnancy for this very reason.

I was pregnant Feb - Nov and it dragged until may/ June and then it flew. Then again I was vomiting my guts up until May, so that probably made it drag somewhat

LoopDiL00p · 28/02/2023 17:33

My second felt much quicker but I think it was more because we were so busy running around after the toddler.

Both pregnancies spanned over Christmas and New Year.

user1284833 · 28/02/2023 17:38

Both my pregnancies has been Sept-June and second felt completely different to first (it flew by!) because I was so extremely busy with my toddler!

ladygindiva · 28/02/2023 17:40

Yes! Preg 1 was August to May and DRAGGED. pregnancy 2 was march to December and went really fast, but mind you it was actually almost 5 wks shorter ( DC 1 was 12 days late, pregnancy 2 was delivered 3 weeks early ) ! But I do agree.

Arthurflecksfacepaint · 28/02/2023 17:45

Yep!!

I’ve had March to November
July to April
January - september.

The one that dragged was my middle child with Christmas in the middle.

Chanel05 · 28/02/2023 17:47

December - September

April - December

In my experience, no. First pregnancy was in lockdown and it felt like an eternity.

Undermyumberellaellaella · 28/02/2023 17:48

I feel this🤣

First was January-September

Second was October-July

Second definitely seemed longer!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 28/02/2023 17:49

Not for me. Mine was the opposite.
DS1 is too long ago to remember (21) how I felt about how long I was pregnant for! But ds2 was Feb-Nov and it draaaaaaaagged. DS3 was Oct-June and flew.
Of course it may have been because ds2 was born at 40+20 (not a typo!) and ds3 was induced at 37+0!

BogRollBOGOF · 28/02/2023 17:50

I have to think harder about DS2's year of birth because pregnancy straddled two years on a calendar. It was actually marginally longer than DS1's pregnancy.

Having had most of a year dominated by nausea, exhaustion and SPD, it was nice to get a fresh start at new year after birth 1. Second time round, I was into summer before I felt like a functional human again and that does feel longer, although there wasn't that much in it.

InvincibleInvisibility · 28/02/2023 17:50

January to September dragged awfully cos I was so ill (sick every day the whole pregnancy)

August to May dragged awfully cos I was so ill (sick every day the whole pregnancy) and having to look after a hyperactive (diagnosed) non-sleeping toddler as well as working FT and hiding my pregnancy until 5 months to ensure a promotion.

I have no idea how I managed it.

Runnerduck34 · 28/02/2023 17:50

No, didn't make any difference, in fact my pregnancy that spanned one year felt the longest -because it was- she was 2 weeks overdue. Its the final 4 weeks where time stands still imo

Ringmaster27 · 28/02/2023 17:51

I was pregnant with DC1 July-April, and it dragged so badly - but that was probably because I had HG and was just so so poorly the entire time.
DC2 was January-October (he was a month early) and I barley remember being pregnant with him - DC1 was only 8 months old when I got pregnant, so I didn’t really have time to think about it like I did first time around!
DC3 was Dec-Sept, and I think because I knew she was going to be my last, I savoured every minute of it. Also she was born on time, which was the longest I’ve ever been pregnant, so I felt like I’d been pregnant forever 😂 Hats off to those of you who carry post-dates, because I was losing my mind in the weeks leading up to my due date!

Season0fTheWitch · 28/02/2023 18:06

I was pregnant Feb-Nov this year, and it flew by. My other 3 pregnancies: Nov-July, June-March and July-April felt like years.
