Does anyone else tune in on the mornings? Two very different styles of presenting subjects for discussion and debate.

Yes love them and Sheila and Tom that follow

PopGoesTheProsecco · 28/02/2023 16:52

Yes - I love listening to all four. Very different views and styles but usually quite interesting.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/02/2023 16:53

Yes, a lot. I don't often agree with Ferraris political views but in recent times he's been more pragmatic about telling things as they are and not automatically sucking up to the Tory's

Same here. Listen all day and if I miss JOB’s opening rampage, I’ll listen on catch up. I also fancy JOB. Agree about Ferrari too - don’t always agree but think he’s pretty fair at posing an opposing point of view.

Nimbostratus100 · 28/02/2023 16:58

No, I have given up on LBC, too much artificially forced adversarial debate, too much like hard work

LadyKenya · 28/02/2023 16:58

I like listening to James O'Brien, and David Lammy.

Roselilly36 · 28/02/2023 17:14

Can’t stand Nick Ferrari, such a bigot.

limitedperiodonly · 28/02/2023 17:23

My political views roughly align with O'Brien's but I can't listen to callers tearfully confessing to voting for Brexit while he says piously: "Don't feel bad mate, you were lied to" while scratching his beard and wondering whether to eat the crumbs.

Xol · 28/02/2023 17:31

I gave up on Ferrari a long time ago because he seemed to me be essentially Daily Mail Lite. I particularly hated the way he would constantly interrupt interviewees with whom he disagreed, whilst fawning over those presenting a right wing point of view.

the80sweregreat · 28/02/2023 17:43

Sheila Forgety is pretty good, she seen nice and fair
I like JOB, but he is an acquired taste and I give up after an hour or so usually plus Dh isn't keen on him!
Ferrari normally does good arguments for and against I think. He has toned it down

anexcellentwoman · 28/02/2023 17:45

I love listening to David Lammy. He is not as aggressive as the others.

arghtriffid · 28/02/2023 17:49

It all gets abit tedious afrer an hour. I find SF annoying and patronising.

thymee · 28/02/2023 17:49

James O'Brien and David Lammy are great. Not keen on the others.

SpideyCraw · 28/02/2023 17:49

I actually really like Nick Ferrari’s style of interviewing even though I usually disagree with him, and really dislike James o’brien’s even thigh I usually agree with him.

I think Tom Swarbrick is great and I actually think he’s better than Eddie Mair

the80sweregreat · 28/02/2023 18:11

Tom is fair : James is a bit ' I'm
Right ' sometimes. I think his working on his listening skills a bit more though.
I agree with him more than I don't , but I think he needs to listen to other peoples point of view when they are not agreeing with him
Nick is better at the counter arguments.

cosmiccosmos · 28/02/2023 21:38

Long time listener of LBC but going off it a bit. I find they all cover the same story and it can get boring. I can't stand JoB, I turn over to Womens Hour at 10. I also can't stand David Lammy, I'm not listening to a man who thinks not only women can have a cervix ffs.

I do like Shelia, Tom and of course Andrew Marr.

Mythicalcreatures · 28/02/2023 21:43

Have listened to LBC for several years, getting a bit fed up with it, can't stand JOB, think I'll leave the behind bar Tom Swarbrick, not sure where I'll go!

SleepyRooster · 28/02/2023 21:43

Love them all.

On the weekend schedule it gets weird though!!

PopGoesTheProsecco · 28/02/2023 21:58

Such an array of views here and I guess that’s why I like LBC, I may not agree with the presenters’ views (am more James OB than Nick F) but I enjoy listening to the people who phone in and the presenters’ responses. Whether they’re JOB or NF.

I think Sheila is my favourite though. I think she’s a great voice for women.

But whatever the show, I would recommend The Mystery Game - it’s great fun (and no, I’m not James OB). 😂

Breakingpoint1961 · 28/02/2023 22:09

Have been listening for nigh on 15 years. Always loved Ferrari, but since he's been on the tv he's become very sensationalist, the drama in his voice makes my toes curl..and when he says "alright guvnor" to a cockney plumber🤦🏼‍♀️

JOB is definitely an acquired taste, some days I can't get enough, then others..have to say, he's not as condescending as he used to be. One day last week he recounted his 'growing up/maturing' years in journalism..he commented on his attitude at different points in those years, he realises he was a cocky git, I was pleased to hear that!

Sheila grates on me..

Tom is young and not yet affected by tabloid journalism..I like him.,

I don't really listen in the evenings apart from..Nick Abbot occasionally..he's a scream!

PopGoesTheProsecco · 28/02/2023 22:27

I like listening to Tom too and Iain Dale. Not sure about Andrew Marr though to be honest I personally feel he’s better on TV than radio.

I guess I just like hearing other people’s views and sometimes hearing someone who makes you think ‘I never thought of it like that before’.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 28/02/2023 22:31

The only time I change station is when Andrew Castle is on. Mate, stick to tennis please!

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 28/02/2023 22:38

This 100% oh actually and Rachel Johnson

I'm a big Ben Kentish fan, miss Tom Swarbrick on latenights - have moved to Colin Murray on 5Live

Prefer JoB to NF

Whu · 28/02/2023 22:46

I can’t stand Ferrari’s views so I don’t usually listen. He seems on a mission to wind up certain people and is very sensationalist - like a walking, talking Sun newspaper! Not for me! Whereas Iain Dale is also right wing but fair, intelligent and balanced (except when it comes to brexit which he is still disillusioned IMO).

I love JOB he is always right on the money and spot on - he kept me sane through the Brexit saga and Sheila is very fair and interesting. She covers different subjects too which I like not just the daily politics.

I find Ben Kentish and Tom Swarbrick ok but without that certain extra spark.
I sincerely miss Eddie Mair one of the most shrewd yet compassionate presenters and one I followed from R4.
Love Nick Abott very quirky and fun but with great politcal insights. Ian Payne seems clueless, though nice enough, I’ve no clue how he’s on a top radio show.

Weekends are mostly pretty good now - Matt Frei, Sangita Myska, Natasha Devon and David Lammy are all excellent. Even Rachel Johnson is ok!
Can you tell I listen to LBC a lot?!

MyGrandmaLizzie · 28/02/2023 22:47

I love listening to Nick Abbott Fri/Sat/Sun at 10pm.
