Hello,

Please can I ask when did you take your DC swimming for the first time and did you do classes or just take them to a pool yourselves to begin with?

TIA

£60 a month for a 3month old? That's madness, all you'll be doing is dipping them in and holding them up, you really do not need to be spending such a ridiculous amount of money. They run a weekday class at our local pool for babies and toddlers it's about £5 probably less actually, it's fun and singing to music in the water doing actions, helps them to gain confidence in the water, it isn't a lesson teaching them to swim. I wouldn't be paying for expensive lessons, they really aren't needed.

2.5ish, might have gone earlier if not for Covid but probably not TBH - I don't think they gain much from being in the pool as babies as far as learning to swim goes. It's fun obviously, but if you find it stressful or expensive don't bother.

Mine is 4 now and we'll start him on proper swimming lessons in the next few months, as I want him to be able to swim before they start lessons at school next spring.

I wouldn’t bother with the lessons. Basically think nursery rhymes and then incorporate them into the swimming so.. Humpty Dumpty on the side and jump them in at the relevant moment, 3 in a bed swooshing them from side to side, wheels on the bus holding them in your arms and doing the motions… that sort of thing. Pouring water on them from a watering can, holding them on their tummies and gliding them around, getting them to grab for a pool toy and so on.
