Would you call the out of hours vet?

I've put this in Litter Tray as well but though chat would be busier.

I'm so worried about my cat. She's two years old. All day she's been really off colour. She hasn't eaten a thing and she's done nothing except sleep in a drawer under the bed. She wouldn't touch her food this evening.

I'm so worried about her. Would you call the vets tonight or see how she is in the morning and call them then? I'm finding it hard to sleep. She always sleeps next to me on the bed, but she's taken herself back to the drawer to be on her own. Don't know what the best thing to do is.

Best of luck OP.

One of ours was not herself and we rang the vet and just said; 'Not herself' as the reason. Turns out that she had an infection that was easily sorted with some meds and she is now back to terrorising her catmate.

Hope you manage to catch her in time for the vets , probably worthwhile getting them to do her temperature and have a look at her .

She came back about ten mins ago and is now curled up on me, purring. Which is obviously lovely but also inconvenient because I need to do the school run Hmm

Is she maybe eating elsewhere?

If my cat has a day like it usually means there is a furball about to make an appearance!

Took her to the vet this eve. She had a high temp of 40. Vet has kept her in overnight so they could take bloods and give her IV fluids. I've already had a message from the vet saying that her bloods were negative for anything really nasty, which is a huge relief. She's probably got a bug/infection. They'll try some antibiotics tomorrow and hopefully after the fluids she'll perk up a bit. Thanks for checking in. I'm going to miss her so much tonight. She normally sleeps next to me and sandwiches me between her and DH. What will I do with all the space in bed?!

I hope your wee girl is okay!

Cats are a nightmare for illness, because they will often just take themselves away and are often very bad at communicating pain or discomfort.

Hopefully some additional fluids and ABs will see her right.

Floralnomad · 27/02/2023 20:59

Hope she gets well soon

isitaline97 · 27/02/2023 22:20

Aww bless her, glad it's nothing too serious! Hopefully she back home for snuggles tomorrow 🥰

QueSyrahSyrah · 27/02/2023 22:25

Hope she's ok tomorrow OP.

If it's any reassurance my boy occasionally goes for a day or two of yelling for his food and then refusing it; simply because he's decided he doesn't like that brand any more and would like us to buy him a different one at least for a few weeks.

My friend has 2 who are exactly the same so we do lots of swapping back and forth of half-empty boxes of wet food sachets 🙄

Copperoliverbear · 27/02/2023 22:47

I'm so glad you took her, it's better to be safe than sorry and she is in the best hands and probably feeling a lot better already. X

One of mine had a serious infection and after scaring the living daylights out of us, she made a full recovery.
