Cars - space for seat to slide back + isofix

Advice needed please! Has anyone found a car which has adequate space for the front seats to slide backwards when a carseat is fitted with an isofix (in the back seat)? We didn't realise until we had a baby, but in our current car we can barely move the front seats back when the car seat is directly behind. It's fine for me, but my partner (6'3) basically ends up with his knees around his ears which is ok for short drives but not for anything further afield...we also want a large boot (easy to see from car specs) but the seat space is more difficult to identify!

The tall patent doesn't sit infront of the rear facing seat.
When they turn forward, you get some leg space back until they turn into tall teenagers

Ahh good to know that it changes once they go forward facing.

But if you both regularly drive, it means moving the isofix each time, depending on who is driving. Is that what people end up doing?

DH isn't as tall as yours (5'11) but he finds it fine with the rear facing car seat behind him in our Honda CR-V

We had the same problem. My husband is 6ft 4. He had a Honda estate and was fine in his. I had a smaller car and he used to sit in the back....until we had two car seats in the back. Now I've got a bigger car.

Just to note it's safest to keep them rear facing for as long as possible, at least until the age of 4 but ideally longer. Rear facing is 5x safer than forward facing. There's great groups on FB that can advice the best seat for your child and car.

It totally depends on the car seat. When we had our first, we had a Ford Focus and I’m 5’9 and Dh is 6’5. We could fit our big ERF seat in no problems. Currently have a Skoda Kodiaq and that fits us and 2 dc well.

I usually drive so not too much of an issue but yeah we just swap the seat round, isofix is pretty easy to love.

Baby sould be rear facing for 2-4 years for safety
