Why isn't my car "pulling" properly?

My exhaust was hanging off (exhaust itself fine, just corroded were it joins the actual car) and garage did a quick fix job on it which will be fixed properly next week. However my car doesn't feel like its pulling properly. Taking longer to get the speed up. That's not going be exhaust related is it?
Car is 13 years old, done 113k miles so she's an old girl

Is it diesel? If so the particle filter may need cleaning or a blow out

TwigsAndPebblyShit · 24/02/2023 17:20

My guess is faulty turbo, if it has one that is

Get a garage to plug it into a diagnostic machine.

Has the cam belt been done? I unfortunately blew my engine up when can
belt went, only sign prior was car wasn’t really pulling like it used to for a week or so

Exactly the same happened to me. Just went out of the blue. I was told I should have asked to have it changed at previous service. I don't know anything about cars. Had garage told me it needed changing I'd have had it done. Does not even cost a lot. Once it goes though you need a new engine.

I've had this and it was the clutch.

Get the cam belt checked, it could end up costing you a new engine if it goes.

It’s not the cambelt, there’s normally no warning before a cambelt fails.

I've had this and it was the clutch.

It would be very obvious if it was the clutch, revs would climb quickly without the corresponding acceleration of the car.

Could be a turbo or DPF issue but we don’t even know if it’s a modern diesel and in either of those circumstances I’d expect to see a warning light on the dash.
