Toilet Bidet Seat Attachment?

namechange8621 · 23/02/2023 21:08

I am not talking about swanky Japanese toilets or the humble bum gun but the thingy with the dials on one side of the toilet which is capable of delivering a powerful jet. Any experiences or recommendations? Thank you!

Has nobody any experience of these at all? 😞

Watching with baited breath interest

I don't live in the UK. But I fail to understand why bidets aren't standard in every bathroom. Surely everyone wants a clean bum.

😃I think it may be because people do not know how to use them. We have a bum gun but don't use as intended as the water goes everywhere which we all hate.

We use a water-based method (always have done) but it is getting expensive. I read something yesterday about a mum who combines bidet with using a "family cloth".

The cloth bit is not as disgusting as it sounds. She has cut up old rags to use as loo roll for one time use and has a method of washing them (similar to cloth nappies). I would not do this part myself.

Tis funny when people say this is more hygienic.

Unless some kind of soap is involved in bidets or fancy Japanese loos or the aforementioned 'bum gun' (shudder) all they give you is a wet arse, not a clean one. And in fact if things start running or dripping down that's even worse.

namechange8621 · 24/02/2023 09:54

They are definitely more hygienic. The water gets into all the nooks and crannies where toilet paper cannot reach.
I occasionally use conventional toilet paper when weeing away from home (when I have forgotten my wet wipes) and there is no way it feels fresh. I shudder to think what is going on down there for most of the population who use it all the time.

We’ve got a Bio Bidet Supreme toilet seat. It was bought for my elderly mum to use as she found it more difficult to manage her own care and we preferred not to have to take on bottom wiping among our many caring duties. It’s been great for her for maintaining her dignity and I think it also helped reduce some of the soreness that she had previously. Because of which loo it is on it is really only used by my mum. I tried it a few times early on and intend to get one fitted when we update our en-suite.

Mum likes the fact that the seat is warm when she sits down so that’s a bonus. I like the ability to use the drying function so she doesn’t come off soaking wet. Having said that, we have to make sure Mum sits back and central on the seat or we end up with jets of water up her back and even on the walls. I also have to keep the dryer section very clean or it turns into three minutes of unbearable smells.

Overall we’re happy with it and as I said above we are looking to get at least one more of these bidet seats.

We've just had the bathroom done and got one. It fits to a particular range of toilets, so we got one which is compatible. When the fitters arrived, they told us that we needed a frame cistern, which we ordered - everything from Victorian Plumbing.

They said that there are always problems with the universal ones and that they would never recommend one.

namechange8621 · 24/02/2023 12:09

Thanks. I can see the Bio Bidet is an American product which comes in many options but requires a long projection toilet to accommodate the jet. The heating thing is a bit off putting as I would end up in charge of keeping it clean!

@SinnerBoy Do you have the one recommended by @GoldenMalicious ? I am probably upgrading the whole bathroom and will definitely get a frame cistern. Which model of toilet did you get which is compatible if you don't mind sharing?

I have a combined toilet & bidet fitted in my council home, it washes & dries, anyone saying it isn't hygienic, it is a pressure washer for bums, how much more hygienic is using loo roll? If you can consider having a new toilet places like Victoria Plumbing sell the latest toilets with washing facility

SinnerBoy · 24/02/2023 14:30

Sorry, I honestly can't remember! The website said that they were compatible - all from Victorian Plumbing.

SinnerBoy · 24/02/2023 14:36

I have some manuals...

The smart toilet seat (with heating and bidet) is a Model TB-325Z. The cistern is a San100 / San 85. I think it was the 100.

SinnerBoy · 24/02/2023 14:39

I'm pretty sure that this is the toilet pan:

The seat is exactly like ours.

Thank you. I would never ask that question iRL but I really needed to know!

My pleasure. It looks like the prices have increased a lot, since the summer...

GoldenMalicious · 24/02/2023 20:40

@namechange8621 We fitted the Bio bidet on a Crosswater Kai back to wall toilet - it was this one. We crossed fingers and hoped it would fit and luckily it was fine.
