What popular films/tv/books series have you never even attempted to watch?

I’ll start with 50 shades of grey. I have absolutely no interest in this what so ever

All of it. You name it I’ve not seen it. Especially any tv crime drama that goes on forever then seems to have a crap ending.
I actually went to see Top Gun 2 though the last time in a cinema before that was the first Mamma Mia film. 😂

GloomyDarkness · 23/02/2023 14:33

50 shades of grey
Twilight series - also divergent series

New bond films - grew up with older ones.

Bridgeton - I've read books like them so possible I read the books and they haven't made a lasting impression but not seen the TV.

Jaws - wasn't allow to as a child and never bothered as an adult.

Did watch GOT and was bitterly disappointed with last few series - so even though House of the dragon is apparently great not watching it..

AliasGrape · 23/02/2023 14:36

50 Shades for me also.

The list would have been much longer before I met DH, I remember our first date being largely me saying I hadn't watched that, not that either, no not that one, nope etc etc. It was things like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Dexter, The Sopranos lots of others. And of course Star Wars.

I did end up really enjoying Game of Thrones, despite it being the very definition of 'not my thing.' Also The Sopranos.

The rest I did attempt to watch with him, but didn't get past the first episode or maximum two. I did watch the first Star Wars film with him too.

Anything that's been 'the latest big thing' since we got together I've usually at least attempted with him, but nine times out of ten I get bored and he ends up finishing the series on his own.

I'm better with really short series - I like two and three-parters!

You name it I’ve not seen it

That could be my motto. During lockdown my department had Friday afternoon get togethers on Teams and they'd all discuss what they were streaming and watching/listening to. I muted myself and read a book.

Rellywobble · 23/02/2023 14:51

Bond films
Harry Potter films and books

cassiatwenty · 23/02/2023 14:58

Tbh, Bond films. Daniel Craig is no Jason Statham. Jason Statham has charisma, is unafraid to get his hands dirty, tame a lion, examine a beehive. A real man. Love his accent, too.

Once I saw Crank, I knew that my heart will never be with someone like 007. Sn00ze

aftersunandlays · 23/02/2023 14:59

Years ago everyone raved about Big Brother but I've never seen a single episode. Same with Love Island

Eastenders- I feel depressed just watching the opening credits

Pretty much anything on Netflix.

Fifty Shades of Grey. It's hilarious how everyone went crazy over it and now charity shops can't even give the books away.

The Matrix films

Soubriquet · 23/02/2023 15:02

Ah I’ve not interest in Bond, Big Brother, Gogglebox or stuff like that either.

Never watched Star Wars and not overly interested in it either

Game of Thrones
Peaky Blinders
Line of Duty

Another one saying GoT. I actually really want to watch it, but way too much glorified violence/sexual violence for me.

Actually, there are loads of popular things I would want to watch, but don't because of the above.

Me too. I hate sex, violence and drug use on tv. It makes me uncomfortable and irritable. Tv shows seem to be getting darker and grittier and I can't watch most of them.

GloomyDarkness · 23/02/2023 15:34

Love Island - never seen a episode or wanted to - leaves me very confused who many apparent celebs are these days.

Did watch first ever season of big brother in my 20s (?) and not one since.

We were very late to the British Bake off - only watched just before it went to channel 4 only watched last two series as DD2 was interested.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 23/02/2023 15:37

Harry Potter. Any of the 50 shades of grey rubbish.

beguilingeyes · 23/02/2023 16:00

I read and liked the GOT books. Then I got annoyed because he's obviously never going to finish the series and refused to watch the TV series.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 23/02/2023 16:01

Star Wars
Thame of Grones, (I don’t want to watch all that medieval sex and violence, thanks).
50 shades
Happy Valley, Love Island, Harry Potter, any of the Marvel franchise,
And Fleabag.

MaggieMagpie357 · 23/02/2023 16:11

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Happy Valley
Peaky Blinders
The Godfather trilogy
Any Star Wars film
The Sound of Music
Avatar

If people tell me I HAVE to watch something, chances are it'll make me determined NOT to watch it. I annoy myself tbh.

LubaLuca · 23/02/2023 16:26

Harry Potter. I was an adult when the books were first published so it just passed me by at the time. I did see a bit of one of the films when it was on TV, but it didn't grab me at all.

Game of Thrones. Absolutely not my cup of tea, no interest in the books or the TV series.

I'm an avid filmgoer, TV viewer and reader, so it's not like I take pride in my ignorance of popular culture. I can't imagine never wanting to see something enough that I wouldn't go to the cinema to see it - that seems like a dislike of the cinema experience more than a dislike of every film that didn't go 'straight to video' since 1995.

Pasadenadreaming · 23/02/2023 16:30

Game of Thrones
Star wars
Star trek
James Bond
Happy Valley
Back to the Future
LOTR
Grays Anatomy
Marvel stuff
Love Island
Strictly come dancing

Soubriquet · 23/02/2023 16:31

Love Island! Yes! What even is that

If you're going to do The Sound Of Music I recommend the Singalong version. One of the funniest things I've ever experienced.

cassiatwenty · 23/02/2023 17:27

@Soubriquet Well it's when a guy looks good "on paper" but then you crush on that hot joiner from Newcastle 🥰😳 Do you know what I mean? 😅

MyGrandmaLizzie · 23/02/2023 17:27

Friends

cassiatwenty · 23/02/2023 17:28

Erm...I heard that Love Island is like this cos of a friend. Myself, never seen a single episode obviously 😳🥦♥️

SunsetStrip · 23/02/2023 17:29

Any fantasy stuff, just not for me.

GinBlossom94 · 23/02/2023 17:31

I did try an watch Game of Thrones but couldn't make it through an episode with falling asleep so gave up! Never seen or read Harry Potter.

GinBlossom94 · 23/02/2023 17:34
