Please help!
my 2 year old DD had this. She’s had the symptoms slowly get worse for a couple of weeks and drs diagnosed it yesterday.

Haven’t been prescribed anything just said to clean eyes.

I have googled and it seems awful. She’s in discomfort and can’t open eyes in the morning.

anyone with any advice??

Try a warm compress a couple of times a day, it worked for me a couple of years ago.

It’s so hard as she doesn’t want me anywhere near her eyes. They water so much then it dries her skin on her face (her face is now so dry and red :( then forms the crusty bits on her eye lids/water lines.

Could you show her how to hold a warm flannel on her face and let her do it herself? My Dd used to get it now and again. It goes after a few days but I remember how red and sore it looked. I always put the towels on a hot wash and made sure she had her own towel which nobody else used.

My DD didn't have it that early so it was easier. She was 5 she hated having to deal with it but not a toddler.

We had to do warm (as hot as was comfortable) compresses two or three times a day. If the lids were bad we had to gently scrub in and around the eyelashes and glands to make sure they were clear (doing the upper lids and lower lids separately above, under and between the lashes. I would put a tiny drop of baby shampoo or hand soap in the water and use a flannel. If she had a chalazion we massaged that. She needed eye drops regularly too.

If it's any consolation it's improved a lot as she's grown. She was under the care of the eye department at hospital but they discharged her a couple of years ago. I look back at photos and she was always looking down or struggling to keep her eyes open as they were so sensitive to light.

Yes, warm compresses, and try Blephasol lotion to wipe the eyes.
