I just can’t do it

As a 29 year old female I am still unable to shave my legs (razor, not electric) without cutting myself. Every. Single. Time.

What can you not do as an adult that you probably the should be able to do?

Might be the brand, I had the same issue went through loads of different ones till I found one I don't cut myself with.

BananaCocktails · 21/02/2023 23:43

what brand are you using? If you use cheap razors then yes they will cut you.

i find the venus sensitive or any one of their razors really good
use a shaving cream with the razor too and it shouldn’t cut . Don’t press too hard either

I'm have the same problem, I've tried multiple razor brands, different shave creams, I give up now and just accept having a few cuts here and there, usually around my ankles and back of the knee, My partner says it's because I'm shaving too quickly and need to go slower, difficult to break a subconscious habit so I just stopped caring

BreviloquentBastard · 22/02/2023 00:02

I started using men's razors and am much less prone to injury now. Not sure why, they just seem better made or better equipped for shaving round knees and ankles.

As for things I can't do as an adult that I definitely should be able to...

I can't butter feckin bread without prodding holes in it. Husband even bought me a special wooden buttering knife, nope, no dice. It's my kryptonite. I'm a great cook, but bread and butter eludes me.

You need to buy high-end razors. Preferably mens.

I still can't take a sticker off anything without leaving a residue behind.

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/02/2023 03:08

I find that really interesting - I don't think I've ever cut myself shaving in my life.

What are you using/what's the technique you've employed OP?

Men's razors are definitely better.

Or get them lasered.

BusterGonad · 22/02/2023 03:11

You could try the Venus razor with the blocks of lubricant around them. I use these as I get sore legs from shaving and it helps the razor to cut and I'm less likly to get shaving rash.

BusterGonad · 22/02/2023 03:11

*to glade not cut!!!

ouch321 · 22/02/2023 04:14

You want to run it over the surface, no pressing or pressure.

junebirthdaygirl · 22/02/2023 05:00

I only cut when l am in a hurry..when it is definitely inconvenient. When l am at my leisure l am fine. But now it's all waxing as l find it best.
I am much older than you and still can't put on a double or king-size quilt without an extra pair of hands. I presume some people do this alone!!

I started properly exfoliating and body brushing and noticed a marked improvement, must have had textured/bumpy legs that were catching the blade.

I've never been able to peel of the celaphane/foil on readymeal food packages.
Always rips, leaves bits on the edge, curls under itself.
Same with yoghurt pots, ketchup bottles etc. Must be a knack to it I'm not getting.
