Travelling over for Manchester
We get there at 2.30pm and travel back home at 10pm following night.
Do you think that's long enough in Dublin ?
Will we have time to enjoy it ?

Well obvs loads of people will say no but I did just one night and had a super time and got a flavour of the place...if you're organised and have a plan.

It made a big impression in just one 24 hour stay.

I’m from Dublin. There is a lot to do in the city! And lots of lovely sea mountains countryside not far away from the city,
But if it’s awkward to change your plans then just come back another time- it’s not far. You can still squeeze a good bit in if you have a plan or even if you don’t. Cead Míle Fáilte!

That’s like asking, if I only have a single scoop of ice cream will I enjoy it?
Well it depends on if you like that flavour or not….

It’s a night away if a different city. It’s fun.
My only concern would be the long day. Are you there with a car ? Somewhere to leave your bags? I would do as much as you can Saturday.
It’s always a bit annoying to leave a nice hotel and end up on the streets with no plan and a bit tired after a new bed . I’d book a nice lunch somewhere and have a idea of something gentle that you what you want to see on Sunday.

Snugglemonkey · 21/02/2023 21:27

You are not going to do everything obviously, but there is no reason you can't have a great time and go back another time

Pseudonamed · 21/02/2023 21:55

Really depends what you are planning to do. If its just eating and drinking and 'having the craic' then grand but if you want to sightsee and see outside of dublin city centre which does not in the least depict Dublin itself then you need longer.

HaggisBurger · 21/02/2023 21:57

2 nights would be a lot better tbh. There’s a lot to see.

Sounds stupid and I'm assuming not ...but can you purchase alcohol at duty free prices travelling to Dublin?

Plenty of time.
Book the Guinness factory tour and time it so you finish at sunset, the bar/end is at the top! Beautiful!

LivingOnAPrayerYes · 21/02/2023 22:25

Duty free, yes. I'm assuming you're flying from Britain? Great deals in the airport (if you're Irish!) About supermarket prices if you're British.

juliesphone · 21/02/2023 22:33

Yes we are flying from Manchester
Is it best to buy Manchester duty free or Dublin ?

LivingOnAPrayerYes · 21/02/2023 22:47

Sorry, yes I meant duty free from Manchester to use in Dublin. Be prepared for the expense in Dublin! (if you're talking about alcohol)

If you were asking about being able to bring duty free back from Dublin to Manchester, then there's absolutely no point. You'd get anything cheaper- alcohol, perfume, make-up, etc - much cheaper at home.
