Wells or the cotswolds for a short break in march ?

We live in the NW and are planning a few days away in the middle of march.
No kids, small dog.
At the moment we are struggling to chose between somewhere like Wells in Somerset or Broadway in the Cotswolds. We like walking, bit of mooching round small market towns, occasional cosy pub, NT visits. Appreciate we'll be limited somewhat because of doggo.
Any advice which fits our plans the best ? Like the idea of visiting cheddar gorge, Glastonbury, not sure what the cotswolds offer apart from very picturesque villages..

I'd go for Broadway. Then go to the Fleece at Bretforton (an NT pub which is lovely), the grounds at Croome and Coughton Court, walk up to Broadway tower, mooch round Chipping Campden/ Pershore/ Evesham. Loads of lovely walking, esp up Bredon Hill

I find the Cotswolds a bit dull. I would always head to the coast. North Norfolk or Dorset (Charmouth, Bridport etc)

Not thought of norfolk actually.o
Dorset is lively but a bit too far I think although prepare to be corrected.

Broadway, will have walks right on your doorstep so you won't need to take the car. There's lots of Cotswold villages, with lovely buildings and footpaths off and if you're happy to drive further afield. Also, Cheltenham for shopping and brilliant views from Cleeve Hill (either drive there, or if you're fit park somewhere in Prestbury, Bishops Cleeve or Woodmancote and walk up (Rising Sun pub has good views and Apple Tree at Woodmancote characteristic if you need a rest!).

Wells is a lovely little City and will have more shops. Cheddar is nice for walks and Glastonbury a nice quirky little place.

However, if it's walks you want, I'd go to Cotswolds. You will need to avoid 11-19 March as it's Gold Cup races in Cheltenham and accommodation is booked for miles. Also, lots of restaurants already pre-booked.

@ifonly4 thanks for that.

Wells is a good choice (I live locally). Lots to do and see around the area - everything from beautiful walks, interesting architecture, and even a bit of shopping therapy at Clarks Village in Street if that's what you fancy.
Do try Glastonbury -Abbey ruins, Chalice Well and the Tor - and the shops are ........... interesting

Wells is lovely. The Bishops palace gardens are sublime. It's definitely a 'thin place.'
