Non-baby items that will be useful for a baby? TTC and had so hoped to be buying baby things by now.

I've been putting a little bit of money away for a while now but still TTC.

Is there anything that I can buy (approx. £200) that will be useful if we are lucky? I have a small airfryer. I like the sound of a slow cooker.

A tumble dryer if you don’t already have one.
A good quality coat for walking in all weathers.

Might not all be in budget but I’d suggest.:.

A really comfy mattress for yourself. Sleep will be so appreciated both in pregnancy and when baby is here.

Or a comfy armchair. Not necessary for it to be a nursing chair but something comfy that fits in your own bedroom if possible but could be moved to baby room if needed. I got a bucket type chair which I kept in my room for first 6 months then shifted to baby’s room when DC moved there for night feeds etc. something relatively upright at back with good sides arms for BF if you wish to do that.

Or cooking lessons. I wish I’d got those as I’m a rubbish cook and have no time now to learn properly. You might be lucky and already be a good cook!

Or a fancy meal out. Not practical use of the money but bet you’d enjoy before any pregnancy or baby appears on scene and you can’t easily get out again (or ever if like me with no babysitters!)

good luck ttc

Agree with the handheld hoover! Good pillows, blender, kallax style storage units, a decent spare bed, a wardrobe with top and bottom rails

Oooh lots of ideas! Thank you! I'd actually like them all Grin

Handheld blender, a Bamix would be my preference.

A bean to cup coffee machine - enjoyable now, essential after baby & broken sleep

Slow cooker that you can brown/saute in as well! 🙌

A regular cleaner.

I’d keep saving and buy a king sized bed if you don’t have one already. We only have a standard double and it’s my greatest regret when kids are piling into it.

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/02/2023 21:09

Currently have a toddler and a newborn and yes yes to the slow cooker. They’re so cheap too.

Also - a good firm mattress. There’s a higher chance than you might expect that baby will end up in bed with you at least some of the time, and a new firm mattress will always be the safest option for them.

The best thing I bought was my kindle!

And yes at least a king size AND an additional bed somewhere else for dad to sleep on while you sleep with baby 😂
