how useful to have a local power of attorney versus overseas

Just wondering how helpful it would be to choose one of 2 powers of attorneys to be local versus overseas. It would hopefully be to arrange care for elderly parent in their own house, potentially with dementia.

I feel if placing in a care home it could perhaps be done remotely with a couple of visits but if it was to arrange live in carers in their own home there would be ongoing decisions re maintenance of house and employment of carers and would be best suited if at least one person making decisions was local.

Has anyone been power of attorney in this situation, either from abroad or locally. How much work could be involved?

Any perspectives from a solicitor?

I think you mean if one of the people with power of attorney isn't in the UK. The PoAs would need to be validly granted in the UK.

Logistically it would likely be easier to act if the attorney is in the same country as the person they are attorney for.

Thanks yes I am sure it would be easier if local. I am looking for some perspective on how tricky it would be to do from abroad. Yes i mean one PofA is abroad not the parents.

How hard would it be to manage with one overseas PofA and one the other end of the country?
