Patio doors to the garden. I really miss that.

Decent sized bedrooms.

Back gate into the fields which led to the hills beyond.

A garage

Ooh and a pantry

Staff??? Seriously oh my goodness. What was that like?

Pleasant. I didn’t have anything to compare it to at the time. They were always just there. A couple of them still are. I’m not entirely sure how my parents would survive without them, tbh.

DH and I have a cleaner, but no live in help. We’re currently expecting our first DC and my mother is TERRIFIED as I ‘won’t have anyone to look after me’. DH has pointed out that I’ll have him, which earns him mystified looks.

Beautiful view.
Orchard.
Pantry.
Lovely tiled floors.

Walking distance to station, busses & shops.

My Mum and Dad and our happy life.

MerryHen · 19/02/2023 01:33

A downstairs or second loo
A decent sized garden (house was end of terrace with the garden on three sides 😍)
Having my whole family in one place - we're so spread out now.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 19/02/2023 01:39

A laundry chute.

OnlyTheWeedsGrow · 19/02/2023 02:08

A garden with 10 different types of fruit growing, a vegetable garden that seemingly always had enough every day of the year.

Space.

Friendly neighbours and community.

A dog.

Family.

Security.

No pain.

tobee · 19/02/2023 02:14

Big garden
Off street parking/garage
Open plan living space

tobee · 19/02/2023 02:15

Oh yeah, as pp, downstairs loo

Floomobal · 19/02/2023 02:16

A pool.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 19/02/2023 03:01

An upstairs bathroom. Going to the loo at 2AM is a pain when the bathroom isn’t on the same floor.

Furries · 19/02/2023 04:01

What is it with these weird threads? There was a raft of them a few weeks ago - what did you have in your childhood house/garden/bedroom etc.

bussteward · 19/02/2023 04:04

A bidet
A utility room
An amazing garden
A driveway
A swing in the garden

BeautifulDayintheneighbourhood · 19/02/2023 04:10

A bath.

Ponderingwindow · 19/02/2023 04:30

Mud room - tiled room right off an easily accessible second entry door with plenty of space for potentially wet or muddy boots and shoes and hooks for hanging wet coats.

Pouffeycat · 19/02/2023 04:35

Space.
But my immediate thought was a hatch!!!
I don't need one now. But it is something from my childhood that my children won't know about.

MmedeGouge · 19/02/2023 05:03

An old fashioned glass house with vines and real grapes growing overhead.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/02/2023 05:36

I grew up in a fairly standard S London terrace, and we had a lovely tiled floor in the hallway and some of the windows and internal doors had stained glass. Lovely period features not seen in my 1999 house!

YewandOak · 19/02/2023 06:02

My mum and dad

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/02/2023 06:23

Land. Wide, open green stuff and big trees.

77toozy · 19/02/2023 06:57

A trout stream and an orchard/meadow

DeathMetalMum · 19/02/2023 07:03

An open fire, probably change it to a wood burner but we can't have either as we rent from HA.

Snozzlemaid · 19/02/2023 07:05

Location's the only thing for me.
My parents rented a house in a lovely village with few close neighbours and a good community spirit. The house wasn't great though and we were poor so there is nothing else I miss from it.

We now live on a housing estate and long to return to quiet village life without so many houses so close together.

closingscore · 19/02/2023 07:08

A walk in pantry (well you could've walked in if they hadn't put the fridge in it. I'd love a pantry with floor to ceiling shelves.

3LittleFishes · 19/02/2023 07:10

A boot room .
Multi fuel stove.
Aga.
Huge Garden.
My own horse in it's stable 6' away from the back door.
Views over the valley at the front.
