Bunk beds

I have 2 DC, ages 7 and 4, who will be sharing a room for the next 4-5 years. DC2 has been in a toddler bed but is now too big and we’re planning on getting bunk beds.

Are they worth it? I don’t want to get shit ones but the nice ones I’ve seen are about £300 excluding mattresses.

Have you had a look on EBay?
There definitely worth it it will help a lot and they will have more space to play.
Recommend putting the 4 year old on the bottom though

Hey @springhassprung22 thanks for your thread! If you're still on the lookout for bunk bed ideas, you might find our round-up of the best bunk beds helpful - it's based on Mumsnetter recommendations. If you have any thoughts or feedback on the article, do let us know💐

If you can think of any other way the boys can share a room, I'd advise you to avoid bunkbeds: they are difficult to make; they are difficult to look after a sick child in, especially a sick child who has actually vomited; they are are difficult for a child with diarrhoea or who just wants a wee in the middle of the night; they are difficult if you read to your children in bed before they go to sleep... I could go on.

We got rid of ours after a few months.

Thank you for this, so many things I hadn't thought of. We've been considering it for our two but definitely put off now

I agree this this, for all the reasons above!
