So I have read a couple of threads about holiday homes, but I thought I would share my experience.
I live in a row of large terraced cottages in rural Northumberland. About two years ago next door was sold to a builder/property owner who said he was going to make it into a holiday home. During g the renovation I was the accommodating neighbour, asking him in for coffee, chatting or taking in deliveries. Halfway through the renovation he showed me a large spa bath he was going to install. Because of the quirky construction of the houses approximately 6 to 8 foot of his bathroom extends over my kitchen ceiling. Fast forward to the first guests arriving twelve months ago. Out of the blue one evening there is this loud thrombin noise coming from my kitchen. At first I thought it might be air in the pipes but quickly realised it was this spa bath. When I confronted the owner the pleasant amiable personality had gone and been replaced by a could not care less attitude. So twelve months on and after being woken up several times by people using the bath late at night and in the evening there is no sign of it stopping. Additionally I have sent him numerous texts and messages. Furthermore, Northumbrian Council have given him a noise nuisance warning and yet he still refuses to either address or acknowledge the problem. This is also in addition to people wandering through my garden and constantly leaving gates open.
I have had thoughts to move, but then think, why should I. I am now considering posting a guideline sheet each time new guests arrive, as it is clear the owner provides no such information.
Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
