Met Officers being investigated- Katie Price’s son

Katie Price's son, Harvey, has allegedly been the subject of "inappropriate and derogatory" images shared by a number of Metropolitan Police officers via WhatsApp.

The allegations are understood to concern officers' involvement in a group chat between 2016 and 2018.

Reacting to the notifying letter, Price said “It's disgusting that police officers from here have felt the need to laugh and use disgusting content on Harvey by creating a what's app group."

So disgusted by this but no longer surprised 😡

I do wonder how recruitment works, it seems so rigorous from the outside but how do they recruit people with such basic lack of morals. How is there a culture where a group will go along with this type of thing and not challenge it. Many people have stressful jobs and don't do this or wouldn't even dream of doing this. Also how are these people so lacking in intelligence or forethought. No wonder the clear up rate is so low.

As a PP mentioned what constitutes the bad behaviour? I've been added to Facebook and WhatsApp groups in the past, they started off as close to the mark but inoffensive then due to the spam I've muted them and left them to run, gone back and seen some horrible stuff and left. So are the officers who did that as culpable as those who actively contributed or is it the ones who've reacted and egged them on?

To mock a disabled child is disgusting and the met are doing the right thing here. For people who are wondering if it's whistle blowing - not likely. It's more they investigate an officer, take their phone, see other groups outside the one they were looking into and so it mushrooms out from there.

@Grumpybutfunny

You are right about losing good officers.

My partner, yes I’m biased, is 19 years in just handed her papers in..

The best of the best I reckon, she’s dealt with everything from DV (a passion of hers) to Murders (caught one 2nd day on the job) to steroid induced nut jobs in car parks intent on causing harm. she’s held intestines together, to stop blood loss from a drug fuelled crazy who had cut his own abdomen open, whilst his mother is screaming police brutality at them as they try and save his life.

She’s exactly the kind the officer you want, make or female, if you are in trouble, need help. she would (and has) risked her own life at times to help others. Why she leaving - because even though she would risk her life for a stranger - she is tired of being hated by the public.

She knows the Met have a leadership problem - the likes of Bastard Dave were repeatedly reported to its leadership and weren’t dealt with. Managers and tick boxes were the problem. She like most cops - say there’s nothing worse than a corrupt or a predator cop. She doesn’t expect to be hailed as a hero - that’s my job to remind her - but the hate from the public has grown in recent years.

So yup - i get my partner back and the public lose a great officer. Like I said before, This post exemplifies how the general public are made to be sheep by wolves and turn on the sheepdog whilst two shepherds argue about the best way for a flock to be managed.

@Bard6817
Your partner sounds amazing, and precisely the sort of officer we should be proud of and grateful to have serving.

Galling she's given that much yet feels so unappreciated as to leave.

I can well imagine how she, and the majority of decent police, must feel utterly demoralised and frustrated when the public are rightly appalled by the actions of other officers flouting her values in heinous ways.

Don't know what the answer is. Independent reporting and investigating of bad apples? More robust whistleblowing mechanism, so they're kicked out?

Perhaps a lesson in not just letting groups sit blindly closed unless you know the people REALLY well. Not having a go at you, I just mean in general. We all need to be more actively aware of what content is coming into our phone.
And if it's a work group etc that if you feel the need to leave, you don't just let it run unimpinged. People need to speak up

Natalie1966 · 18/02/2023 15:45

Yeah right, Katie has been using Harvey for years, she's really no better. Katie knows his triggers and exploits them and it's no wonder H is banned from live TV because Katie knows HOW to trigger him.

diamondpony80 · 18/02/2023 10:04

I can’t stand Katie Price as a person but as a mother who has had to fight all her life for her child I do feel for her. It would be heartbreaking for any mother to read something like this.

Shame she can't be bothered to attend the hearing, Katie knew about this and could have cancelled the 3 week holiday with 2 of her kids keeping them OUT OF SCHOOL at the same time. But as we all know Katie looks after number one and that will never change.

What has any of that got to do with what the police did?

Its not just nice people who are victims of crimes/police behaviour. If I stole a car from the local sex offender id still be committing a crime no matter how much everyone hates the person I stole from.

Because she isn't any better than they are.

So if your parent is exploitative then it's ok for other people to do it too? Jfc some people's sense of morals are in the gutter.

Ihateboris · 18/02/2023 09:18

Sadly, where the police are concerned, nothing surprises me anymore. They should hold their heads in shame.

Same. I'm a law abiding person who was brought up to respect the police...I put them on a par with doctors and teachers.....well, used to. .my opinion of them is very low now...very low.

Whatwouldscullydo · 18/02/2023 16:11

So what if she isn't any better ? That doesn't mean the police can do what they want?

The criteria for being a victim of a crime/inappropriate behaviour should never be reliant on the people around you to be exemplary. That's not how it works.

If I randomly violently attack a man on the street who happens to be a local.drug dealer i don't deserve to get away with it just because he's a drug dealer. I still committed a crime.

WiIson · 18/02/2023 16:12

Good for Katie for flagging this up. There's no room for this behaviour in the police force.

Why has only come up now if it's from 2018?

Greenfairydust · 18/02/2023 16:16

The Met, yet again...

At this point if we had any decent politicians they would have dissolved this dysfunctional police force and started again from scratch with proper recruitment and leadership.

Haven't we had enough rapes, misogyny, racist incidents and ''jokes'' about vulnerable and disabled people by now from the Met?

Good on KP for standing out for her son.

So explain why she isn't attending the hearing? You would think she would move heaven and earth to be there? This will explain why the bankruptcy hearing was postponed.

Whatwouldscullydo · 18/02/2023 16:30

So in order to recognise the behaviour against a disabled child is inappropriate, not only does KP have to be spotless in her personal life but also act/react a certain way?

So if I robbed your disabled child , it would be ok because u had a speeding ticket three years ago and u didn't attend the appointments the police made for u?

Police can just do what they want as long as the parents are messed up enough it won't come to anything?

IncompleteSenten · 18/02/2023 16:33

Absolutely nothing the met do surprises me any more.
They're rotten through and through and yes. I include those who don't actively participate but remain silent in that.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 18/02/2023 16:43

plumduck · 18/02/2023 08:56

I'm glad they are investigating themselves

I’m not. It should go to an outside source. There’ll be a token sacking and the rest will be brushed under the carpet. Always been the MO for the filthy Met.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 18/02/2023 16:46

I’m not sure which is worst - the pps saying the police do a hard job so them mocking a disabled child is fine or the ones saying “but Katie is horrible so Harvey deserves it”.
Bloody hell, sometimes Mumsnet shocks me, I thought I’d seen it all but then it gets worse.

Who banned Harvey from live TV?

Have you got anything to back this up?

You seem rather anxious to deflect attention away from the Met's behaviour and focus on Katie Price's. Why is that - common or garden dislike of women, or something else?

Throwncrumbs · 18/02/2023 17:57

That letter doesn’t look very professional, looks fake to me.
