Can anyone help talk me down from a panic attack please? I have health anxiety. I got all clear with health last week but it just hits me out the blue. Thank you

There are some good videos on YouTube you can put on in this situation with calming affirmations.

You've got through this before
You'll get through it again.
You are safe.

Thank you so much @Krayvon2 the panic attack talk down is helping on YT. It's a vicious cycle. I get anxious which can give me chest pains, and then I get more anxious where I'm shaking from head to to toe thinking this is it 🙈
I just panicked and posted on here. You've really helped replying ❤️ still not 100% but better.

Glad it's helped a bit @Cassie9032 I used to get similar episodes and watched a lot of talk down videos to help. Also found that sipping cups of hot water (80 degrees) really helped calm my whole nervous system when I got in that state

When I was calmer I used to watch Eckhart videos about thoughts and the mind to try and understand the mechanisms of why I felt such crippling fear - helped me get a new perspective on it

I'm going to try hot water now, very up and down right now. Really appreciate your help ❤️

I often take a couple of paracetamol to full the nerve endings. I also like to find things that stimulate other senses…. Lavender or menthol oil for smell, really strong mints for taste, and 4head balm for lovely fresh touch, music with a simple happy rhythm for sound and funny pictures to look at.

remember you’ve had them before and you are in control.

Cassie9032 · 17/02/2023 02:51

@Krayvon2 hot water is helping 🙏
@PeeblesQueebles I'm going to take 2 paracetamol now. I'm willing to try anything. I can't thank you both enough!

this lovely mans video is the only thing that helped me stop crushing panic attacks that i was hyperventilating and passing out from as i was fighting against it that bad. The trick is to give it attention, let it peak then ebb away. Remind yourself its unnecessary adrenaline and it can only build to a certain level then dissipate. I lay down with my eyes closed and headphones in listening to that video sometimes three times in a row and it helped hugely.
Cassie9032 · 17/02/2023 03:14

@Shatandfattered thank you!!
The thing is I get bad trapped wind because of stress and the pain can set off a panic attack. I've been taking gaviscon and when I'm calm it really helps but any sign of anxiety it's back again. I spoke to a lovely GP who really helped me but I guess the panic won't suddenely stop altogether straight away.
I'm having therapy in a few weeks and I can't wait. I'm that desperate for help I'd honestly try anything.

I have to take propanolol for the physical symptoms alongside omeprazole for heartburn. Im waiting on a diagnosis for BPD too so the founding characteristics of that disorder alone are enough to send me into frenzied panic, self loathing and despair. Terrible mix

Summer2424 · 17/02/2023 03:45

Hi @Cassie9032 hope you're ok x

Cassie9032 · 17/02/2023 03:50

@Shatandfattered I completely understand ❤️ I'll look into omeprazole, I've never heard of it. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy and would definitely like to help others in some way when I'm in a better place. I have calmed down a bit now. Thanks everyone, I'll always return the favour🙂

Glad to hear its passed. I haven't had a full attack for a good while its more just slight on edge fight or flight nerves or randim heart palpitations like ive had a fright. So be assured it wont always be this way, you'll have periods of utter relief and normality and one day that period will become permanent

Summer2424 · 17/02/2023 03:57

@Cassie9032 glad to hear you're ok x
