Employment law help needed.

Posting here for traffic. Also posted in legal.

My partner has been dismissed without warning and has been offered a settlement but it is time restricted.

He wants to negotiate and has already contacted acas and used the settlement agreement document they have to draft a counter offer, however he would like a solicitor/employment law specialist to consult since the company will pay a small sum for him to do so.
Its complicated by geography as he lives in Scotland but is employed in England so can’t just walk into a local law firm or research locally. Google searches are too wide and throw up only large (expensive) firms.
Can anyone help please?

You should still be able to use a local Scottish solicitor as employment law is not devolved.

Thank you so much everyone. You’ve been extremely helpful and I’ll pass on all the advice and suggestions given and see what he wants to do.
He’s mainly just trying to up the offer to cover the fact that this has made him unwell and, even when it’s all done and dusted, he might not just bounce back.

He’s just replied to me saying he’s had a quote from a solicitor which is more than he was offered so he’s gone back to ask the company to cover it.

@RockingMyFiftiesNot
I think he said it came from HR and they said the info they had on file was corrupted in some way.
His DOB is similar to 20/9/62 and they said the numbers were transposed but what he queried that to me after all this because what else could it be? It couldn’t be mistaken for 9/20/62 because there’s not 20 months (if you see what I mean.
As opposed to mine which is 11/1/70 so could be January 11th or November 1st.

I’ve already said to him he’d need to prove it but I suppose he can refer to it as “odd” to negotiate better terms.

These aren’t our actual DOB’s btw. Just for illustrative purposes Smile
