I've starting working in a new job were they are great and training people up and moving them on which has got me think thinking about what I would like to do. As
I've already stated I enjoy people, making them feel relaxed and getting to know them. What would be a good fit for me?

I'm an ODP. I work in operating theatres. I try and help people relax and look after them when they're in one of their most vulnerable states.

JollyJunee · 15/02/2023 21:44

NHS nurse, adore my job.
I think hospitality can be good if you enjoy people facing jobs too?

hedwigismyowl · 15/02/2023 21:47

Nhs radiographer manager so a 50:50 split of clinical time to management time so get face to face contact time with patients (best part of the job) and staff during management time. Best of both worlds.

weebarra · 15/02/2023 21:49

Used to be a careers adviser, now manage careers advisers. Love my job.

thecatsthecats · 15/02/2023 21:56

I'm introverted, but I'm very good with people, very confident and engaged with new people. Workplaces like to take advantage of that by sending me to front projects and warm up introductions, so I end up a bit burned out.

So I'm going self-employed, as I like the buzz of getting a lot of ideas off a client, building the relationship and then powering through the work quietly.

Clinical Lead Speech and language therapist in an NHS hospital. I do a lot of talking to scared people who are very unwell or undiagnosed issues and help come up with a plan. I also do a lot of teaching / supervision which I'm told I'm very good at!

Wanttothrivenotsurvive · 15/02/2023 22:02

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2023 22:13

I manage an academic teaching team. I run lots of projects / research. Spend most of my time interacting with students, academics & other staff.

I love working with people to deliver projects / new resources, and also like to be in charge & lead the work so it suits me.

I still need chunks of the week without meetings, talking to people, to focus on the work & regroup.

LightSpeeds · 15/02/2023 22:14

Work in admin for a charity and spend a lot of time speaking to people on the phone. (They're often upset.) I love it!

Notsogoodhousekeeping · 15/02/2023 22:21

Farm adviser. Spend my days speaking to farmers and land managers about funding, environmental schemes, water quality, partnerships, fertiliser prices, labour shortages, the easiest sheep breeds, sexed semen vs running with the bull, historic environment, you name it. Lots of tea and biscuits. I love it.

VirtualRealitee · 15/02/2023 22:31

Museum assistant and I absolutely love it.

I get to indulge my passion for local history, tour people around an 800 year old house and organise events for children and adults.

oscarcat99 · 15/02/2023 22:49

Student wellbeing at a university. Working with students to try to help them address the 'life stuff' that gets in the way of their studies - from bereavement to finance but mostly a lot of mental health chat and signposting. Working with academics and admin to resolve some of the issues. Some of the students come to see you once and some you see regularly throughout their degree. I love it.

I also recently trained to support students who report incidents of sexual violence, which is hard but rewarding.
