Spa Hotels In South East

Paul2023 · 15/02/2023 19:00

Hi all,

Later this year is my DWs 40th birthday. We’re looking at booking a hotel room for us, her parents and sister and brother in law.

Im paying for the three rooms as a treat.

Anyone recommend a Spa hotel in the south east of England- Kent/ Surrey/ Hants/ Berks that is within waking distance of a town, city?

Ive looked online and it’s a bit of a minefield!

Probably around £200 per room / couple.

Would be nice to have a town to walk to so we can have a few drinks and maybe a meal at.

Thanks

Bailifscourt on the coast near Arundel? South Lodge in Sussex ?

How about doing a full day spa at a hotel and staying locally? Carey’s Manor Spa is amazing but you can stay in loads of local hotels, airbnbs etc and go for a day. Then you get the best of all worlds.

Try perhaps www.cottagelodge.co.uk in Brockenhurst, or stay at www.stanwellhouse.com which has just reopened after nearly a year of refurbishment.

I’d go for Stanwell House, although it might take you over your budget now.

Pennyhill park. Always fabulous.

Personally I’d prioritise the spa hotel over the central location. Most good luxury hotels will be able to arrange transport for you to a local town.

  • Coworth Park, near Ascot. Part of the Dorchester collection. Amazing restaurants and lovely spa
  • Pennyhill Park
  • Limewood
  • Fairmont Windsor Park
  • Cliveden House

I'm afraid they're all massively over budget

Ok thanks again all. Still looking into this for later on in the year.
It’s our anniversary in May, and we’re looking at having a night away for the first time in four years. Anyone know of a hotel with a jacuzzi in the room or private hot tub ? Again in south east.

You could try the Hythe Imperial in Hythe (Kent). Dont know a great deal (virtually nothing) about the hotel but it's on the seafront, and a short walk into Hythe itself which is quite nice.

Alexander house hotel has a lovely spa. I'm aiming for that for next big birthday

It's lovely but unless you count Turners Hill as a town or city it's not within walkable distance of anywhere.

I second this - it has a Moet & Chandan champagne bar that overloads the sea and a ten minute stroll will take you into Hythe or along the seafront to the Waterfront restaurant.

Rowhill Grange is lovely, I've been quite a few times for a Spa Day. I haven't stayed overnight myself but it's part of the Alexander Hotel group. It's located in a little village just outside Dartford and set in some very pretty grounds. The only box it won't tick for you I think is it isn't within walking distance of a town.

If you've only got one night does it have to be walkable to a town? You'll be paying too whack for a really good spa so could you either make the most of the spa and not be in a town or minimise the spa requirements?

TheChosenTwo · 16/02/2023 19:09

Pennyhill Park is lovely but I’ve stayed before and it was well over £200 a night.
If you’re only there for one day and night does the location really matter? As in, by the time you’ve checked in, had a spa afternoon, gone back for a bit of a chill out, met for drinks etc and then had dinner it’s time to go to bed and then you’re just checking out again when you wake up. Unless you wanted somewhere nearby to go for dinner…?

Paul2023 · 04/04/2023 10:28

Not necessarily a spa hotel, but does anyone know of any hotels in the South East with en suite jacuzzis or hot tubs in the rooms?

I remember watching Four In a Bed and two girls ran a hotel, with an en-suite jacuzzi? It was maybe in Essex but cant be sure.

Booking com is great for this. Tick off all the requirements you are after.

Bunny2021 · 04/04/2023 11:23

What about an Airbnb with hot tub etc and then you could organise a pamper day at the house for your wife etc. Get someone in that can do nails, massage etc.

girlmeetsboy · 04/04/2023 11:58

The Who'da Though it has Jacuzzis in each room and a Champagne and Oyster bar. The food is nice and the hosts are great!

Some really good ideas on here thanks. The idea of booking a place with a hot tub via Airbnb is a good one.
I’m thinking of doing that and maybe bringing her footspa , foot creams and face masks with us, secretly. Then going out for a meal somewhere in the evening.
Any thoughts?
