Any Manchester folks about?

Hello! I need to get from Manchester Picadilly to a place in Oldham (from London). I'm just looking at the route and google maps is suggesting two trains and a bus. Anyone have a rough idea of how much a cab would be? Its for work and will be on expenses but I don't want to take the piss if its loads!

Ah just noticed you said OL8. Bit of a public transport black spot. I’d either Uber it (c.£20 each way I think), or tram from Piccadilly to Ashton and taxi from Ashton to where you need to go.

uber regardless if you or work are paying. I think work paying would expect a taxi

faffing about on buses and trams in Manchester is a waste of time , especially as previously poster said you are looking at less than £15 each way

Yeah my in-laws live in OL8 area not massively near the trams as previous poster said going to Ashton-under-lyne and getting taxi from there. Probably £20-30 for Uber/minicab and more for a black cab.

Its definitely a more direct route than the Piccadilly Victoria Oldham. For me though the cost and time of tram/taxi via Ashton it would be simpler to Uber from Piccadilly. My other concern would be someone not familiar with the area moving from tram stop to taxi rank at Ashton. Its not far but if you aren’t familiar with the area it could be confusing and it’s just a bit of an unnecessary extra faff.
