All the mums out there how many hours of sleep do you guys get with babies under one year of age?

Last night I slept for 3 hours and am drinking cups of coffee to stay awake and do the chores!

@OffYouPopNow

3 broken hours sleep for 7 years 😴 how I managed to also work 4 days a week is beyond me.

This gives me so much strength seriously the feeling that I am not alone and can pull through is such a relief

DS started sleeping through most nights, not all but usually 5/7 when he was 15 months. I went back to work when he was 10months old and regularly worked a 12 hour shift with an hour’s commute either end on about 3-4 hours of sleep. If I could have injected coffee into my eyeballs or veins I would have done.

My DC is older now but at that age I got a broken night of 5 to 7 hours. I breastfed and coslept which helped but I felt so touched out and I still have massive eyebags from the sleepless nights yonks ago.

Mine was formula fed and in his own room so it was a case of fully getting up and sorting him until he was night weaned, which took a fair while and did not happen immediately after he was one! I know I could have sleep trained, but I am not an advocate of it, so it’s partly on me. I just told myself that it wouldn’t last forever. I do think it’s aged me a bit though, I swear an odd silvery hair can spring up overnight on the back of a crap sleep.

@OffYouPopNow Solidarity with you. Ds is 28 now and hasn't slept through the night in his life. Better now I only need to keep a listening ear though. Have you asked about safespaces? I coped much better once I stopped trying to get him to sleep and taught him that he could be awake as much as he wanted but he had to let the rest of us sleep.
His siblings learned to sleep through anything eventhe nights where he emptied his whole bedroom onto the landing only learning of the shenanigans when they had to climb out of their rooms. I envied that ability and still do.

@Skinnermarink If I could have injected coffee into my eyeballs or veins I would have done. Grin Same here!

Don’t think the issue is a love of sleep here 🤣

You have been very lucky, but it might not always be that way!

Actually he does love sleep ☺️ if it does it does but might not

@Emmamoo89 DD2 has also been a good sleeper compared to DD1 who took ages to sleep. Since last week she has learnt to climb the stairs and we have got a safety gate but yet to fix it in place, the thing is she keeps climbing all the way up and goes to her dad. I think this exercise has been too much for her tiny feet and so she was just cycling her feet in sleep the whole night (more like the jerks we feel in sleep when we fall of the stairs in our dreams).

I better fix the gate and the sleepConfused. I know it's dangerous but she suddenly just vanishes from the kitchen and until I catch hold of her she's half way through the stairs If she sees me she speeds up I fear she'll slip so I let her reach the summit

Stop doing the chores and take a nap when baby naps! It's the only way to survive.
