Tax credits and estimated income

Hi
I was looking at my tax credit account tonight, thinking of switching to UC but that scares me!
They have my estimated income as £11480 for April 2023. I have worked out my earnings might be £11900 ish depending if I get any over time. Should I change it on the website or leave it until when I have to renew?
I was also reading about a £2500 disregard which I was trying to understand. Thanks

So that is their estimate for next year? If you ring up to renew you could do it then? Or alternatively you can just do it on the online system from April 6th. So I wouldn't bother changing it this year as it won't effect your claim until April.

ok thank you! I got confused. Was worried id have to pay money back to them if I have earned more.

In that case yes its best to tell them online. According to gingerbread they don't actually recalculate your tax credits unless your earnings have increased by £2500 so you may find it doesn't make any difference to your award.

How does one get tax credits or UC with an income of £11k? Or have I completely misread this

You cannot claim tax credits...it's a legacy benefits. You would have to claim UC. Over the next few years they are saying that everyone on working tax credits will be transferred.

Yes I will be changing to UC in the near future. I am a single parent
