My son is applying for a work experience programme and needed to complete an online personality test as part of the process. He said one of the tests appeared impossible - he showed me a video afterwards that he took his phone, and it looked impossible to me too. I won't describe it, so as not to give anything away to other potential candidates. The description said it wasn't a timed task, and there was an "exit" button that moved you on to the next task. I asked my son what he did - he said he thought it was a perseverance test, so he had a few goes, then filmed it, then went downstairs to make some toast, then ate the toast, then clicked exit. 😬 I told him that I would have exited as soon as it became clear it was impossible, because why waste time on such an obviously ridiculous task?
He thinks I would be categorised as impatient. I think he might be (wrongly) categorised as someone who just does what he's told without question, even if it's not sensible (although they said it wasn't timed, I'm pretty sure they probably recorded how long it took him to click exit, and they obviously don't know about the toast).
How would you have interpreted it?
