What have my children bought me for my birthday?

Next week is my birthday and with the children on half term and an errand to run in our nearest small smart market town, filled with trinket, clothing, food, soap and knick knack shops, I took my 3 teenaged boys with me as they wanted to look for a present.

I dropped them off and went on to my appointment and they met me when I came out, everyone was in a good mood. Great, I thought, no panicking about presents and cards (or worse still my DH sorting them out on their behalf the night before)

But, a notification has popped up on my phone from the youngest one’s banking app saying he’s spent 14.99 in Robert Dyas.

Robert Dyas…

Robert Dyas…

What the hell have they bought me in Robert Dyas?????? Grin

Poor review though ☹️

I would be happy with the poppy feeders

PoseyFlump · 13/02/2023 19:23

Tefal Pancake Pan £14.99 (so you can make them pancakes)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/02/2023 19:27

A set of fancy dusters, with a feather duster as the icing on top.

Yep, something like this. Have you recently complained that your non-stick frying pan is on its last legs?

Spanielsarepainless · 13/02/2023 19:32

Mumsnet vibrator?

I got those for my mum a few birthdays ago. She loves them.

Not everyone’s idea of good time

My DH gives my boys a tenner and lets them loose on the supermarket. I always love the presents they buy for me because it was chosen by them. It was super cute when they were toddlers. It is still brilliant now they are much older. It shows me a little bit about how they view me, and what they think I would like. I would just enjoy what they have bought. Whatever it is, it will be lovely.

I really want to know now! I love those videos on TikTok where parents give a child £10 to spend in a pound shop for the other parent. One dad was over the moon about receiving bleach. 🤣

Blingismything · 13/02/2023 19:45

A jigsaw

NCcantthinkofanewone · 13/02/2023 19:45

OhClunge · 13/02/2023 20:48

I'm sure it will be lovely >>crosses fingers behind my back<<

I nearly spent that on an indoor / outdoor lantern with three LED candles on Robert Dyas yesterday.

Hope you love your present, or at least the thought behind it.

Fitness Mad peanut massage ball? Quite like the look of it tbh.

DownInTheDumpster · 13/02/2023 21:12

Love Robert Dyas!!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 13/02/2023 22:25

Thermal coffee cup?
Hope it's not an ironing board cover

thaegumathteth · 13/02/2023 22:43

Tbh I have a teenage son. If it was him he'd probably have bought something for himself and entirely forgotten he was in there for a birthday present.

Mostexpensiveplug · 13/02/2023 22:46

Could they have got you an RD gift voucher?

VittysCardigan · 13/02/2023 22:55

Place marking for the birthday delights

Ohh Robert Days is a funny old hodge podge of stuff these days! Could be anything from a screwdriver set to one of those funny JML products that have a video about them playing on repeat!

Do you like gardening? They probably have quite a bit of gardening stuff in for spring at the moment.
