Best soft play in the North of England?

Visiting from abroad and reckon the kids could fancy a bit of soft play. Ages 6 and 9.

Any suggestions?

Town/city? I mean, if you're going to Manchester there's no point in someone suggesting a soft play 100 miles away in Newcastle or Lincoln.

Eminybob · 12/02/2023 19:04

Can you narrow down where you'll be? The North of England is quite big

Yesthatismychildsigh · 12/02/2023 19:06

Any idea of area? ‘The north of England’ is a large place. Didn’t you know that?

Plumbear2 · 12/02/2023 19:08

Yes you need to give us a rough idea of the area. The north is huge.

mackthepony · 12/02/2023 19:12

Yes sorry, good point. Within one hour of East Lancashire please.

Play Factore looks great.. But intense?!

Well depends on your definition of best I suppose. Play Factore certainly has the biggest play frame in the UK.

If you fancy somewhere with outdoor as well as soft play, have a look at Stockeld Park. It's Wetherby so may be just over an hour but it's got one of the biggest soft plays in Europe which is newly opened as well as several adventure playgrounds in the woodland.

Second this
It's amazing!

Stocked sounds good, I'll check it out.

We would probably go mid week (not half term) so I don't think it will be too busy, hopefully

Personally hate play factore

DragonflyLady · 12/02/2023 19:50

I have a soft spot for Giddy Kippers in Clitheroe.

mackthepony · 12/02/2023 21:46

Thanks for all the suggestions

Why, @Zola1?

It's super big and when we went, super busy. Not actually all that much for the kids to do, and they didn't really enjoy it and were asking to leave. The toddler area is quite good though, and 8 year old liked the VR.

Oh you might want to check if stockeld is going to be open then, I’ve got a feeling they might only open weekends during term time.

SchoolTripDrama · 12/02/2023 22:18

The Playhive at Stockeld is amazing! I live down the road from it. Go in nice weather and also have a walk around the Enchanted Forest too, as there's 7/8 amazzzzzing parks in there also!

Ps, Stockeld is THE biggest indoor play centre in Europe

Ah Stockeld is only open when the kids are off school unfortunately

Latenightreader · 12/02/2023 22:20

I would have suggested Old Cobblers in Rawtenstall (the only soft play I know in the area and my daughter loved it) but it appears to have burnt down this evening…

ZenNudist · 12/02/2023 22:22

Not sure which towns you mean by east lanes. Is rascals in Preston way near you? That's a nice big play centre.

I like play factore but it's just an expensive soft play. It happens to be very local to me so we've thrown a birthday party or two there. My view is its better for an older age group that can enjoy the zip line.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/02/2023 22:33

There's a good soft play (and many other things) at Cannon Hall Farm (of Channel 5 fame, Spring on the Farm etc), which is about an hour from Bolton.
