I work 45 hours a week and at times I'm feeling very exhausted! I'm so exhausted that I don't have time to do any housework! Anyone else feel like this? I can't do much at weekends because of this!

Cleaner ?

If you're out of the home so much how is your home getting dirty? Tackle the biggest dirt causers, cut corners, batch cook, one pot dinners, grocery delivered, laundry at night, dried in the morning put away when you come back...etc. Do all the hacks and shortcuts and simplify your life. Maybe you're anaemic or low on vit D? Do you eat properly or rely on processed food and sugar to perk you up?

I think that’s normal. I work a full time job but husband does 100% housework and youngest is j

45 hours is a lot!! Can you reduce to 37 / 40 ?

….. is 11 years old now so it gets easier but still hard work

It’s quite a lot of hours. Do you commute as well?

I would try and

Get a cleaner
Stop cooking - use decent ready meals and assembly
try and reduce your hours to 40
try and do at day at home

I work fT but have a cleaner. I wouldn’t cope without the cleaner

"If you're out of the home so much how is your home getting dirty?"

This kind of answer always frustrates me. Presumably the OP is still sleeping in their bed, using the bathroom, making/eating meals, wearing clothes etc during the time they are at home so therefore they are making things dirty/laundry to do etc. What they don't have is time to actually sort these things out.

Sorry, OP, I don't have any answers, but I had to comment on this as it always frustrates me to see "well, how dirty can it be if you're never there" as an answer" 😄

Well I don't understand it because it's second nature to me to clean and tidy up as I go.

I think some people probably more messy than others. They don't put things back and leave them to accumulate, always running late so no time to even load a dishwasher. I loathe cleaning so I create as little mess as possible and clean before it becomes a mountain.

Me! I am a single parent, work 40 hours a week and do a degree full time. I am just about at breaking point this last week or so. I’ve caught up on laundry this weekend so that’s a bonus but I feel so unhealthy and that I could sleep
for a week

I work 50 hours week, dh also full time. 2 young DC. We cook a big meal on Sunday which we will reheat in various guides another two times in the week. Other meals are either batch cooked on Sundays or baked potatoes. We have a eufy and I make sure my morning routine involves dishwasher, clothes wash on and eufy on somewhere in the house before we leave for school. Shopping is all done online so I don't spend all weekend in a supermarket. At the weekends I clean the bathrooms and kitchen and one other room. I often get DC to help as long as there's no chemicals e.g. they'll do the skirtings with a damp cloth. It's hard though. I never get time to sit on my own and just be/watch tv/read/do a hobby. I'm either working, cleaning or helping DC.

You may be anaemic, it can cause extreme tiredness. Personally I don't think 45hrs is a long week, I can easily rack up 60hrs a week (self employed). The cleaning gets done or it doesn't. It troubles me not either way.

Tilllly · 12/02/2023 17:14

I hear you

I won't do any housework at the weekend as that's my recuperation time

If it doesn't get done ad hoc during the week, it doesn't get done

Agree with the short cuts and hacks
I make about 10 portions if I'm doing chilli, casserole, curry etc
