Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just enjoying my first brew of the day, in silence. The fridge is humming away to itself & that's it.

I'm off into town with dd1, today, to pick up a couple of long sleeved tops for her upcoming PGL residential with school. She needs trainers too but I think her old ones can go with her and she can have new ones after.

When we get in, I'm going to make a start on a crochet Supertato for display at work & look up patterns for some of the other veggies. Evil Pea's already in the freezer 🤣

Dd2's making curry for tea so I'll supervise her prepping & cooking that, this evening. I'll probably have a glass of wine with mine.

Tonight will be either more crochet for me, or continue the series of books the girls gave me for my birthday. Dd1's in the middle of a new tv series, but I can't remember what, and dd2 will probably Minecraft with her friend in The Netherlands who's on half term this week too she thinks.

What about all of you? 🙂

Going away tomorrow for a few days so packing and shopping for any last minute bits later.

DH and kids gone to the cinema this morning so peace and quiet here for a bit whilst I'm trying to get motivated to get up and get started on some chores.

Have a nice day everyone!

Good morning lucysmam and all,
I fell down the stairs during the week and whanged my wrist on the radiator. Wow, did that hurt. I thought at first it was broken but I now have movement and a huge bruise; however I won't be doing the gardening I planned this weekend.
DH will be planting rhubarb. He has bought enough crowns for a small farm for some reason and I'm already visualising 1001 uses for the rhubarb harvest: crumbles? wine? jam? chutney? cleaning products? Might have to put it into the village barter system…

This morning I've got someone coming to pick up some things I put on Freecycle, so I am (carefully) folding laundry and making vegetable soup while I'm waiting.
We're going to town this afternoon, just grocery shopping and picking up some curtains for the hall, which I'm hoping will be finished this next week. (I hoped exactly the same last week, sigh)
A takeaway for dinner, then see what films are on the box.

@lucysmam Morning and morning all!

I will be in the garden today sweeping and tidying, while my Hen wanders around happily.

Then its cooking for my nan later

Enjoy the day all - Make it count :-)

I am lying in bed hungover as I went out for dinner and drinks with DH last night and we rather overdid it! I'm too old for this and should know better. We need to get up soon to walk the dog.

JorisBonson · 11/02/2023 09:59

Was supposed to be meeting a friend to watch the rugby but I've woken up with a throat full of razor blades, so it's a day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 11/02/2023 10:06

Love these threads! Thanks for starting OP.

We are at Sat morning swimming, as per! I have literally spent nearly every Sat for last 7.5y sitting here watching lessons. DTs up early and got into bed to tell me their dreams, then breakfast of brioche in front of the dining room stove, and now pool.

Later, we'll do playground, lunch at home, then clean the car and declutter dining room. Trying to do a bit every week. Then a Chablis in the fridge for after bedtime!!

Hi lucysmam 💐 thank you for these threads - i love reading them♥️ DD (8) has a party at 11 so I'll stay with her for that. DH and DS (6) are both under the weather so a lazy day after. Friends were due to cone round for tea and a round of kids DnD but thats cancelled now. Have a lovely day everyone x

GotABeatForYouMama · 11/02/2023 10:11

Dog sitting FiL's dog who is currently growling at the washing machine.

Breathmiller · 11/02/2023 10:12

Morning lucysmam and everyone.

Love hearing about everyone's day.

First day of half term here. Ds11 is off to the rugby with his friends and I had plans to go out for coffee or even dinner with DH and DS19 but I succumbed to a UTI that has been hanging around all week. So i think I'll have a quiet day in the house instead. I quite like the first day of the holidays just to chill.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 11/02/2023 10:20

Morning! I’ve just finished my toast. We’ve been having a lazy morning,
drinking coffee and reading stories with DD.

I’m about to grab a shower before DD’s carers arrive. Once they’re here, DP and I will go and pick up some prescriptions and then grab lunch out somewhere. Nothing too big, as I’m off out for dinner later.

We’ll probably spend some
time chasing DD around the garden later, and then I’ll get ready
to go into town and meet
friends for a cheap dhosa blowout.
DP will do bedtime and then I expect he’ll spend the rest of the evening gluing little bits of paper together 😀.

golddustwomen · 11/02/2023 11:01

Morning all!
It's a lovely bright day here and I am feeling motivated for the first time in 2 weeks, have had this awful virus that's doing the rounds. Still don't feel 100% but it's amazing what sunlight through my patio doors will do!
We are having a slow day, bacon butties for brunch then will get ready for a family birthday today, couple of drinks then home for a curry.
Have a lovely Saturday all.

Pascha · 11/02/2023 11:05

Dh is out with friends til early afternoon. I think they are doing an escape room.

Ds1 has gone off with his older cousin and nan for the day, he won't be back til gone 8pm.

Ds2 is at a cubs sleepover til tomorrow morning.

I am ALONE (with cat, obvs). Ignoring the state of the post breakfast kitchen and the clean washing. It can all wait while I slob on my phone with no judgment from anybody. (except the cat)

Lookingformymarbles · 11/02/2023 11:06

I have a rather vicious cold that is hanging around for far too long so declined to accompany dh and ddog on a long and muddy walk. Instead am messing about on MN and trying to decide where to eat next week when pop to London to meet a friend.

We have friends round for lunch tomorrow so next job is making the dessert (apple crumble using home grown apples) and the cauliflower cheese.

This afternoon I shall retire to the bedroom to finish my book and have a snooze whilst dh watches the rugby. Dinner is chicken curry, half prepped and which dh will finish.

I love t this thread, so interesting hearing what everyone is doing.

JamSandle · 11/02/2023 11:08

Just made a very healthy smoothie.

Going to see an indie film later in London.

OhClunge · 11/02/2023 11:13

Morning everyone
I'm out for lunch later and so excited as haven't been to this place for ages
We don't eat meat at home but I really fancy a fat juicy burger with bacon and cheese with a large red wine
Total decadent, I'm abandoning all responsibilities this afternoon Grin

JasperJohnsPaintbrush · 11/02/2023 11:15

Morning @lucysmam - I hope your day is a good one.

I've had a lazy morning, but am going into town in a while to an afternoon lecture at our local arts centre - "An inspiring and entertaining talk on medieval dress, with historian Jane Sammells, based on an archaeological find and challenging reconstruction. Food from medieval times will be available to sample" . Can't wait!

Bunce1 · 11/02/2023 11:21

We are slowly driving up the alps to our holiday in Meribel, so although the journey has been long I can’t complain.

We have stopped for fuel and croissants and the again for the loo. Kids have been so good reading and chatting and have only now asked for a film.

soboredtonight · 11/02/2023 11:30

Lying on the bed watching peep show. Daughter trying on clothes in her room.

DH watching telly downstairs.

Getting my hair done at half one then out for a birthday at five.

Looking forward to getting done up.

evtheria · 11/02/2023 13:38

DS is on a walk all day with Cub Scouts, DP is out running errands and getting his hair cut.
I've done nothing much except hang some laundry, have a shower and shaved my legs, listen to R4 and eat lots of biscuits. To be fair, there were 3 opened and partially empty packets so I've kind of tidied the cupboard this way.

Happysalley · 11/02/2023 13:47

Just got back from the new soft play place, it was like Lord of the Flies! Children climbing over the side of the bouncy castle, flinging bikes and toys up the slide, one child even dragged a chair up the bouncy slide and came down on it! Staff were too busy scrolling on their phones to do anything. I'll stick to the more expensive, yet civilised, one in future. I think the rest of the day will be spent recovering from the experience.
