There is a big GIANT wasp in my house

Name changed as I will be telling all I know about the creature in my house.

There is a ginormous wasp in my house, I’ve no idea where the bugger came from? I’m so tired, slightly unwell, pregnant and desperate to sleeep!
However there is no way I can settle knowing this beast is in the house.

Mr wasp was last seen in the hall about an hour ago and not heard a peep since. Afraid to climb into bed incase he appears just as I drift off. DPs been walking around the house shaking towels at small hideaways (then unsettled me by informing me that wasps can get through teeny tiny gaps in the wall and my theory that the bedroom door is shut and has been shut for ages means the wasp can get in is now crap taking away my small feeling of safety).

Any advice on how to lure the horrid little creature out so we can sleep peacefully???

It's a young queen. It's probably been disturbed and will find somewhere else and go back to sleep until it's time.

She won't hurt you, she doesn't have a nest to protect.

If its any consolation it is likely to be Mrs Wasp, in fact Queen Wasp - just out of giveth and looking for a grand place to build a nest. You should be honoured! 🫅🐝

I can assure you, honoured is not the feeling 😂 that is reassuring though @gamerchick

Have you got a wood burning stove? We get dozy hornets that come out of logs and fly around the house.

Giveth = hibernation 🤯

This happens to us too. She's been out in the woodpile having a lovely snooze, then suddenly she's in the house being chased with a rolled up newspaper...

Fuck. That.

Burn it to the ground.

Its more likely to be a queen hornet than a wasp. They are more gentle and less likely to sting, similar to a bee. Hornets are the good ones. Leave her alone unless you can easily shoo her outside.
