Travelling with kids on the tube

I feel stupid asking this as I lived in London as a teenager in the days before Oyster cards.
How do I travel with 2 DCs (age 11 & 13) for 2 days in London? I’ve left it too late to get visitor Oyster cards.
Do I just buy 3 Oyster cards when I get there? How do I get child discounts?
I have a family and friends railcard. Can I use that at all?
Thanks.

Don't kids that are school age go free????

Can you buy a travelcard from the station you're travelling from? I think it's quite complicated to get child fares on the tube for 11-15 yr olds who don't live in London.

Do you have enough contactless bank cards for each of your group to have one? That's simplest

You can either buy an oyster card from any manned underground station then ask to have the Young Visitor discount put onto them. Or you can buy a 1 day or 7 day child travelcard (usually more expensive).

Your other alternative is to buy Off Peak Day Travelcards and you get 1/3 discount with your family & friends railcard.

We don’t have enough contactless bank cards so I’ll get Oyster cards. Thanks everyone

As others have said its fairly easy to get a young persons discount put on a normal oyster card:

tfl website says
Young Visitor discount
If you don't live in London and you're visiting with children who don't have an 11-15 Zip Oyster photocard, they can get discounted travel for up to 14 days with the Young Visitor discount:
50% off adult-rate pay as you go fares and daily caps on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line and most National Rail services
50% off adult rate tickets on the IFS Cloud Cable Car and Thames Clippers River Bus services
The discount can be added to a standard Oyster card or Visitor Oyster card by a member of staff at:
Any Tube or London Overground station
Visitor Centres (except Gatwick Airport)
The children must be with you when you ask for the Young Visitor discount.

Go to one of the staffed ticket offices with child and get it done.

Its free for children up to age 10 on the tube/ buses so when we travelled with our 11 year old first time at Victoria we asked at the ticket gate about what to do and he was waved through as a free child on the tube -go to the larger gates.

Buy two one day travel cards using your friends and family railcard - you can do this online and then just collect the ticket at a mainlien station

You need to use a train station rather than underground but if you're travelling in my train then just get the additional tickets from the closest mainline station so maybe hitchin / Watford etc

Thanks all. Can my 13 year old use her contactless card to get child fares or do they only work with adult fares?
