Can someone explain TSH/T4 levels, please?

I had a load of blood tests recently, and I was just looking at the results on the NHS app.
Aside from high cholesterol, which I already knew about, everything is in the “normal” range — except for my T4 (thyroxine), which was 10.2. The NHS says normal range is 12-22.
My TSH, on the other hand, was bang in the middle of normal.

The GP ran through the tests quickly on the phone and didn’t say anything about my thyroid being a problem, but I didn’t have the figures in front of me, so didn’t notice the T4 number at the time.

Anyone know if it’s normal to have ok TSH but low T4? I don’t want to pester my GP unnecessarily.

Thank you!

What was the tsh? Nice guidelines of normal are not necessarily optimal

The TSH was 2.23.

I only feel right if my TSH is under 1.

This group on Facebook is good - but there is a hell of a lot of information that it can be difficult to understand which bits apply to indoviduals. Worth a look though. www.facebook.com/StoptheThyroidMadness/

The higher T4, the lower TSH. I'm no expert, but if your T4 is low, it's very likely that your TSH might go up in the future. Are you feeling OK healthwise, no symptoms of underactive thyroid?

Thank you for the link. My normal levels are around 2.5 and I'm feeling great. I don't think I ever had TSH under 1. I got pregnant immediately etc., but in my 2nd trimester I have noticed my thyroid is slightly enlarged and I'm booked for bloods next week. I'm wondering what numbers I will see.
