Mothering Sunday

I’ll start with I’m not criticising just genuinely curious as it’s not something that I ever thought about doing.

Having just read the post about the wife getting the MIL’s Mother’s Day gift rather than her son the poster also referred to getting her a gift from the DC.

In circumstances when the mother isn’t present I can understand getting something for someone special. It makes sense to me step mums getting something from step children.

But if it’s a couple, still together with children - and I know it’s a nice thing to do and it doesn’t affect me what other people do - but why would anyone get granny a gift for Mother’s Day when they’re already getting a gift from their child?

Those that do it would you mind telling me why? Are you just a more giving person than me? Or are you less literal than me? Is there an expectation from granny? Did you do it the first year and now wish you hadn’t started? Are you doing it because a sibling does?

Thanks in advance.

Because it’s an excuse to show someone that they’re loved and appreciated.
