I have mine tomorrow and feel under prepared! It’s the msq I’m dreading. Has anyone done it and can give me some advice? Thanks!

Hi, op. I have done ALS twice. I would treat it as a learning experience, whatever happens. Don’t let the worries of other people influence you. The instructors are kind. The written test, make sure you read the questions properly. All the best, and make it a positive experience. Don’t overly revise at this stage, get some rest. X

Yes I have OP, nearly two years ago now but can’t imagine it’s changed much

The day is LONG but you get loads of practice and the instructors want you to do well. By the evaluation, it is second nature.

I found the MCQ the easier part of the day and honestly a good break after all the practicals! Have you done the eLearning and read the manual? (Assuming one day course, not sure what prep is for two day course?) if so, that easily covered everything in the MCQs. There were no nasty surprises and no trick questions.

I’m definitely not a lover of emergencies but actually really enjoyed ALS - you learn so much and, as above, the instructors are genuinely lovely. It’s a fun if tiring day!

Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions.

Thank you both! Just hate practicals!! Am reading book again and revising E learning. Never done it, so don’t know what to expect!

Me too but honestly it was absolutely fine. I was really worried beforehand but ended up enjoying the day and it went by in a flash. Your instructors will look after you (and if you're still nervous when you get there, there's no harm in letting them know!) Best of luck!

Brilliant news and congratulations. One of the most stressful things I’ve done. Due again 2024 and dreading it. Really pleased for you

What's asl

Advanced Life Support. It's a resuscitation course for doctors, nurses and some other AHPs.

Congratulations OP! I've done it three times now, it definitely gets much easier and less nerve-wracking with time and experience.

I’m so happy! Will be easier next time I’m sure x
