Please help me word an email to my manager

Morning

I have been struggling lately with life in general. I have 2 boisterous boys, one is autistic with alot of ADHD traits. I work 3 days a week at a job I love, and 3 other days a week I am a home help/carer for my disabled mum.

I am broken. I had a breakdown yesterday as I just feel I have nothing left to give. I can't bring myself to go into work this morning, which is the first time I've felt that way since I've been there (around 8 yrs).

I can work from home today, which I can manage. I want my manager to know why I'm doing so, but I am at a loss as to how to word an email. Which is silly because I've just written it all out on here but it doesn't feel professional enough.

My brain isn't working properly and I can't think straight. Please help me write a short, professional email to her explaining why I need to WFH. She is the best manager and will understand 100%.

Do you want to WFH or do you actually need to be signed off for a week to give you a break? To me, it sounds like the latter.
Sending moral support

I would just say "I have had a very difficult few days and would be very grateful if I could WFH today. If you could facilitate this, it would be much appreciated."

I would then go to the GP and get myself signed off for a bit with stress.

I can't be off, I won't get paid

Hi. I manage a number of people and would want to know you were struggling. I would say
Dear x, I’m sorry I’m struggling with my family and circumstances at home at the moment. I’m able to work from home but need a bit of breathing space from the office. Would that be ok this week please?
Regard X

Thank you 💐

Be honest and tell your manager how they can help support you by slowing you to WFH for a bit.
Good luck and try to get some support from somewhere
