Dishwashers - Bosch specifically

My trusty 17 year old Bosch has just stopped working with a loud 'pop'. I fear it's not going to be cost effective to fix.

So I'm assuming I need a new one, ASAP.

I'm looking at series 4 and series 6. Any experiences of these much appreciated.

It's an integrated machine, if that makes any difference. I know I don't want a cutlery tray at the top, and a delay/overnight setting would be handy. Other than that, I'm not fussy. Just interested to know if anyone has any experiences of these to share.

Our new Bosch doesn’t seem as well laid out as our much older bosch (passed on by a friend to tide us over). Both had cutlery trays but new one I can’t put water glasses or tall mugs in the middle of the top drawer as not enough space. Agree cutlery tray super annoying. So maybe take a measure to check drawer height? I had assumed tht they were standard but seems not.

Definitely don't want a cutlery tray for that reason! I know you can lower the top tray, but then you can't fit dinner plates in underneath.
Will most likely have to buy online as Currys is the only 'real' shop around here, and they have hardly any on display. So checking the configuration will have to be done online.

You're right to avoid the cutlery tray, ours is a PITA because it restricts the height so much. Otherwise ours is great but I'm not sure what model it is. It has the red dot on the floor to tell you when its on.

Yep, definitely take out the cutlery tray!

We have a series 4 and a series 6 (long story) and honestly there isn’t much difference. I can’t comment on layout because one is older than the other, but I feel as if the series 6 takes a lot more/it’s easier to get more into it. I’m very big on packing to the gunnels!

My biggest tip is the vario/speed button. Halves the programme time, but I’ve never seen any loss in function. It’s amazing!

Our series 4 integrated died after 8 years and we replaced it like for like. Well..... I say like for like, the new one is 30% more plastic and doesn't seem as sturdy, but so far doing the job lovely. I can't find a rinse button, 15 minute only, cycle though.
It does have some better features, and I've realised my old one must've been dying a while as the new one cleans so much better.

I've got a Series 4 Silence Plus standalone dishwasher, which is about 4 years old. It's been great, with few problems. The only two issues I can think of are that the 'Salt' light comes on sometimes, even when there's still salt in the container. The other problem is that some of the vertical plastic-coated wires in the upper basket seem to rust a bit at the top. The plastic seems to break off at the top, causing the wire to rust. I usually touch it up with grey Plasti Dip rubber paint, although this comes off eventually. Other than these things, it's a very reliable machine.
