Sienna Miller, please can I borrow your country bolthole?

Love her cottage so much.
Its warmth and personality, its lived-in cosiness, its original features.

Can well imagine the scope for happily chaotic gatherings of loved ones, kids, dogs there.

I'd spend my winter evenings curled up in front of that fireplace, good book and mulled wine to hand. And lazy summer afternoons adrift in a garden hammock.

Ah, I can but dream!

It's absolutely stunning. So cosy and quaint I just love it. Apparently she bought it in her 20s to escape all the paparazzi and abuse after she broke up with Jude law. Which is really sad to hear. I remember she did get a vicious time from the press and don't understand why. She seems so lovely.

SleepQuest33 · 04/02/2023 15:00

The ceilings are way too low. Bit claustrophobic.

ChesterCheetah · 04/02/2023 15:05

Having lived in old houses for years, I'm sick to death of the upkeep and being bloody freezing. Sienna can keep it!

I do like the fact she’s bought a country retreat, which is in commuter belt from london, where her main house is.

stunning house. But you surely do not need two homes 45 mins away from each other.

Not sure need comes into it. Surely you can see that a stunning little cottage in the country is totally different to a London townhouse or whatever?

I am looking at the interiors wondering if they're the before or after pictures though...

Love the kitchen floor tiles

So do I but they belong on the wall. I can’t imagine a dog has gone anywhere near them with white/light grey grout.

ClaireEclair · 04/02/2023 15:29

I’m not massively keen on the interiors but it’s much better than Lily Allen and David Harbour’s New York home. They’ve made a right mess of such a lovely space:

Lily and David

My favourite celeb home is Florence Welch’s London home or Dakota Johnson’s LA pad.

Florence

Dakota

Coxspurplepippin · 04/02/2023 15:41

I quite like Lilly's garden room and kitchen. further evidence of my complete lack of decorative nouse

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 04/02/2023 15:43

I didn't like Lily Allen's new Brooklyn pad. Too froufrou and they paid God knows how many millions of $ for a bedroom without any windows 😑

Mercurial123 · 04/02/2023 15:56

Lily Allen's home is migraine inducing.

It just shows how taste differs, I think it’s gorgeous

the windowless bedroom and the carpeted bedrooms. not for me.

kitchen was nice.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 04/02/2023 16:06

**carpeted BATHROOM that should have said.

Ifitistobesaid · 04/02/2023 16:14

Sienna’s house is lovely. So much character and personality.

Looove those AD house tours. Think my all time favs are David Harbours loft and Vanessa Hudgens house.

ItsCalledAConversation · 04/02/2023 16:17

I’m not madly keen, it all looks a bit of a mess really. And how many times does she need to say it’s magical! There are other adjectives.

David Harbour's loft would be the ideal NYC pad for me.

Of course I can see a difference. Just can’t get my head round two houses 45 mins apart.

at least it’s handy if you’ve forgotten something.

EdiePotts · 04/02/2023 16:35
is Scandi chic eclectic. If I tried to copy it, it'd look like I was setting up a jumble sale.

Maybe she wanted somewhere she knew she could realistically travel to every other weekend. Whereas with a house in Cornwall, you'd be unlikely to pop down on a fortnightly basis.

These tough decisions the rich and famous need to make! Grin

Alstoybarn · 04/02/2023 16:46

I read this as butt hole

UWhatNow · 04/02/2023 16:47

I was put off thatched cottages when I heard they’re full of spiders 🕷️

ChesterCheetah · 04/02/2023 16:48

I do think something feels a bit off when it's been decorated by someone else. Feels a bit too calculatedly perfect; oh look, a delightful throw here, a vintage shoe rack made from the walking sticks of consumptive Victorians there.

Cocolapew · 04/02/2023 16:59

Do you think any celebs actually do their own decorating? I don't mean physically but they always get designers in. Do you think they ever pass a shop and think oh those curtains would look nice in the Hamptons house?

CallipyJean · 04/02/2023 17:03

I love it!

It’s so nice to see all the colours, textures and patterns; welcome change from all the flat grey everyone seems to have. The house itself is very pretty and a thatched/beamed cottage doesn’t necessarily mean loads of maintenance (I live in one) but is so worth it for the character

Depends what it’s made of, that roof has clearly been done recently. But it can be up to 40 years.

Water reed can last even longer. In East Anglia, because of the weather conditions, if you get a good thatcher with decent materials, 60-70 years isn’t unreasonable. You’d go through ridges every 15-20 years, obviously, as they have to be straw to bend over the top of the roof. Reed is too rigid for that.
