Elective C-section only for sterilisation

Has anyone requested a C-section purely to be sterilised at the same time?
My reasons would be considered valid, I'm just not sure if it would be approved?

I have no idea. Probably depends on how many children you have and why you want to be sterilised.

Not saying women shouldn’t be allowed because the way it’s denied is ridiculous (ie. too young). But if this is your first child for example it’s quite a big thing to decide to do this whilst giving birth.

And I say that as someone who had an elective c and didn’t quite realise how big of a thing even that was. Not saying I regret it, but if I had known in hindsight everything that entailed not sure I would have signed up. Not that I have the comparative natural birth to compare so not really valid. Basically trying to say c’ is a big thing in itself so depends how many births, children, c’s you have might factor in to how they react.

For example the op to sterilise might be much simpler than a c. If that’s all your hoping to achieve and have done previous successful natural births.

Sorry bit of a ramble.

@LemonSwan Sorry should've given more detail.
I'm nearly 38, I'm pregnant with Dc#5 .
First Dc was born at 27 weeks due to pre-eclampsia, no issue with the last 3x Dc or this one so far (Im 33weeks now) but I am considered high risk and have been with all previous pregnancies as a result Dc#1.
I had an elective c-section with DC#1 only.

I had sterilisation during ELCS with DC4. DC3 was ELCS too after two previously difficult births. Very easy, took a few extra minutes in theatre. Recovery no different. In fact I think I recovered quicker from the second c section.

Obviously slightly different as I had absolutely no desire to have another natural birth after DC1&2 as they were both traumatic. But it was a very easy process. No objections raised by any doctors as I was a similar age to you and having number 4. No regrets, I knew I was done. Your body, your choice - do whatever is right for you.

I wouldn’t want major abdominal surgery to get sterilised, if you want a section for other reasons then yes I would ask for it to be done at the same time.

Well I think from what you have said they would have to allow.

But like pp said I would decide whether you want the c first. And if you are get then absolutely get the sterilisation thrown in too.

But if you have had 4 normal successful births I would be inclined to do that if you can and get sterilised by keyhole. I assume with 5 your quite a bit older now than with your first c, and with other kids too look after. Recovery will be different and might not be as easy as before.

Goodluck 🥰
