Pins and needles/constant tingling...due to low folate?

Hi all,
I know it's more a health question but posting here for traffic!

I'm feeling a bit anxious as for months now I've had mild pins and needles/constant tingling in my legs, mostly my feet upto below my knees. I've noticed it's pretty much constant. Not severe as standard pins and needles (where your leg becomes numb and you can't stand) but a constant fuzzy feeling.

Has anyone else had this? I should probably speak to the Dr but I'm feeling anxious about it.
I do have low folate and have read it can be a symptom of this, so I'm hoping this is this issue (b12 was normal).
However I've been on the prescribed folic acid for around 6/7 weeks. Should my folate levels have increased enough now so I don't experience symptoms?

Had anyone else had these symptoms with low folate?

Thank you.

I had pins and needles when my levels were low. It didn't take too long for it to go away from memory. Maybe 6 weeks or so

I have had weird tingling on and off in various parts of my body for over a year, along with palpitations. I know I should have mentioned this to the GP but on checking out various reputable websites it seemed quite common. Anyway, I started taking a Vitamin B complex tablet every morning and symptoms have largely gone away. If I don't take it (went away for a week in dec and another week 3 weeks later in Jan) symptoms start to return. I suspect it may be a bit B12 deficiency, even though this is supposedly unusual in omnivores.

I had this but it was caused by damage in my spine. I had no other pain. I had all sorts of tests plus MRIs and nerve conduction tests ( think that's what they are called). It was nothing to do with anything else for me.

I hope this doesn't offend but my Dad has this and he has recently found out it is through excess alcohol use. We didn't consider him an alcoholic but does drink over the recommended limits. Some people have smaller/ naturally weaker livers which don't cope as well as others x

I experienced this when I entered peri and was going through a prolonged period of stress. Apparently your body uses magnesium to produce cortisol and low magnesium can cause these symptoms. I took magnesium supplements and took up meditation.

I had this and it was a vitamin D deficiency, this time of year with it being so dark it’s fairly common.

The doc did a blood test to find it & now I always take it in the winter.

Thank you for the replies so far, it's reassuring to know I'm not alone!
@Itsonlyagame I'm hoping my pins and needles is related to my folate and the folic acid needs time to work. Do you get reoccurring low folate? Or was it a one off?

@GourmetLettuceMix I'm glad you've found something that helps yours. Maybe I'll give vitamin b a go and see if it helps!

@AndNowIKnowWhatHappened has yours now eased? I don't think I've any spine/nerve damage but if you weren't aware then maybe I wouldn't be either!

@LouisaBeara I don't drink, well very rarely (as in one drink every few months). Hope.your dad is ok.

It was a one off for me. After breastfeeding.

I had very similar with low ferritin, it was tingling sharp pin prick sensations, it went after iron tablets

Ooo that's a relief glad to hear it! I've completely stopped drinking 😁 my Dad is receiving palliative care now unfortunately. Hope you get it sorted x
