30 units per week. A bottle and a half of wine every Friday and Saturday night. Person (not me) is 40 years old.

Yes

Yes, the recommended maximum is 14 I believe, and that is double.

MontyK · 03/02/2023 17:29

Well it's double the recommended maximum so yeah.

On the plus side, I suppose they're giving their liver a break on the other 5 days but 3 bottles over 2 days for one person is binge drinking and really not good.

beachsandseaicecream · 03/02/2023 17:31

I thought a bottle of wine was 10 units so two over a weekend is 20 units. Still more than 14 a week 'advisory limit' but not double.

Yes

The NHS advice is to spread out the drinking over three or more days to lower the risk if you are drinking 14 units a week, more than 6 a day is binge drinking.

Yes

FenghuangHoyan · 03/02/2023 17:35

Yes it's damaging. Especially considering any amount of alcohol is damaging as it contains ethanol which is harmful to our bodies. Aside from that is also a long term depressant and highly addictive so doesn't do you a lot of good mentally

Wolfiefan · 03/02/2023 17:36

It is unhealthy binge drinking. If it’s not you then how does it impact you though?

maddy68 · 03/02/2023 17:47

Recommended glasses is made up. (Research it). However if you think it's too much then it is. Does it affect day to day life in any way ?
