Does anyone drink kombucha and have any recommendations?

I have been reading about the benefits of kombucha for gut health. I bought a bottle recently and it was tolerable, but I think an acquired taste.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Are they all similar in health benefits or are some superior to others?

I don’t mind it but I actually prefer Kefir. It’s proven to boost good gut bacteria within a couple of months.
After daily drinking for 2-3 months the last stubborn bit of my weight melted off. I don’t have a day without it. It too is an acquired taste, some are fizzy and sour, others more palatable. I avoid the flavoured ones as they have more sugar in.

Ooo, I bought some kefir this week but haven't tried it yet. The one I bought has strawberry in it but no sugar. I've also been eating live yoghurt.

I'm thinking of trying Kimchi as well, but not sure what is proper and what is just a gimmick.

I make my own. It’s not hard and most of it is waiting for it to ferment. I bought a scoby online, and some flip top round bottles (apparently square one which I had are more likely to explode). First fermentation is just sweet black (or green) tea and the scoby and starter liquid. Leave that in a warm place for a week or so until it’s tasting quite sour. When it’s ready for bottling give it a good stir to make sure everything is fully distributed, reserve the scoby and a cup of the liquid to start your next batch. Then to carbonate (second fermentation) put into your flip top bottles with flavourings (can be syrups, juices, whole fruit, herbs) and a bit of extra sugar making sure to leave a couple of centimetres at the top. After a few days put in the fridge to chill and you have kombucha.

I've been drinking kombucha recently, not really noticed any health benefits but I'm sure it's healthier than the diet coke I used to drink! River Cottage kombucha is delicious (but very expensive) and there is a brand called Remedy that is also very nice and a bit cheaper.

Is it suitable for diabetics?

Interesting to try and make my own kombucha.

I think I will investigate waitrose kimchi, and then try and make my own as that will probably be cheaper. I just want to know what it is meant to taste like first.

We get a delivery of Real Kombucha every couple of weeks. I highly recommend the Dry Dragon and Royal Flush varieties.

River Cottage is lovely too, particularly the Hedge one.

Thanks @MuseThrower, I just googled dry dragon and they do tours and tasting!

Really? They do market their stuff as a wine alternative, so it makes sense!
