I’m have 3 of my wisdom teeth removed. What will I be able to eat? I can’t imagine living on soup for a week.

I lived on McDonald's milkshakes and ice cream. Good luck!

Sounds tempting, but oh boy I would be so bloated.

Mashed potato, mince, smoothies, yogurt, scrambled egg, soup, porridge, the list is endless, OP.

By day 2 I was on chicken casserole but I only had 2 out (same side) so could chew on the other side. I found a cotton bud the easiest thing to get rogue food out the tooth gap.

crossstitchingnana · 02/02/2023 22:41

Tinned custard and mashed potato for me, not together I hasten to add.

Whoknowswhatanymore · 02/02/2023 22:41

Are you having it done in hospital? under general or local? Im asking because both of my lower ones need removing and I’m putting it off!! 🙈

MyCreation · 02/02/2023 22:43

I had soya chocolate desserts, yoghurt, mashed bananas, puréed veg with melted cheese over. What really helped was taking arnica tablets regularly the week before and then as soon as possible after you’ve had the teeth out. The dentist recommended I do that. Not sure if it was coincidence but I only had slight bruising and had all 4 out which were impacted. Also sleeping propped up after helped and after 24 hours doing regular rinses with salt in warm water. Hope all goes well.

Mydogatemypurse · 02/02/2023 22:43

Ive only had one out at a time. I was very lucky with recovery and ate fairly normally albeit mostly on one side after 4 days.
I had smoothies, yogurts, soup, mash with gravy, cassaroles. But avoided bread, chips crispy things etc.

SantaBakula · 02/02/2023 22:52

I had all four of mine out a few years ago .
I agree with @KylieKangaroo milkshake is good because it's cold and quite filling tho I prefer BKs.
Soup without bits in , cream of tomatoe has always been my go to when I am not well.
Very well doaked weatabiks, or porridge
After a few days noodles, slightly over cooked veg , fish ,
Stay away from bread and rice it gets stuck to easy
Avoid salty/ vingarry / spicy stuff for a week or so .
But do rinse your mouth out REALLY well with warm mild salt solution after every thing you eat or drink gor at least four or five days.

OnTheBoardwalk · 02/02/2023 22:57

Don’t use a straw!, increases the risk of dry socket

and yes rinse your mouth out often

SantaBakula · 02/02/2023 22:59

@Whoknowswhatanymore , I had mine out in hospital under a general, the nerve in both teeth in my lower jaw was wrapped around my jaw nerve and both had become infected so after almost 3 weeks of antibiotics the dentist sent me to hospital with the remark 'no bloody way am I touching that '

Shoemadlady · 02/02/2023 23:01

Honestly you'll be fine. Everyone makes a massive big deal about it but it's fine I promise xx

SantaBakula · 02/02/2023 23:02

Good lord the typos ! Sorry about that I hope it still made sense

Namechangingagain111 · 02/02/2023 23:02

Keep up with the aftercare (mouthwash/saltwater rinses etc.) - that's important

I had all four out in hospital under GA, and was at a party eating crusty french bread and pate a week later 😀
I think I was lucky though !

Whoknowswhatanymore · 02/02/2023 23:05

That’s interesting because my teeth roots are the longest the dentist has seen and they have said they won’t touch them because they run either side of my cheek/lip/facial nerve, this scares
me so much because I could potentially get nerve damage that lasts a lifetime. So far we’re trying to prevent any unnecessary surgery but if I keep needing antibiotics it will have to be so!

Picturesonthewall123 · 02/02/2023 23:07

Crisps that melt like skips or wotsits were a god send for me. Tricked myself I was eating food!

And what happened????

SantaBakula · 03/02/2023 12:53

I was booked into hospital the 2 days later put under general and had all four taken out at the same time .
I was in hospital for a total of about 10 / 11 hours . I was does and bruised after but nothing like the pain I had been in before having them out .

SantaBakula · 03/02/2023 12:56

sore and bruised

Deedoo · 02/09/2023 10:00

@MyCreation How long did the healing And pain last. X

MyCreation · 02/09/2023 11:25

Gosh I can’t remember too well how long it took to all heal. I do remember I had a dry socket in one which I had to get cleaned out and dressed. That was very painful. Overall I think the biggest thing was the stiffness in my jaw. I couldn’t open my mouth very much for a week or so I remember. But the overall pain was bearable (apart from the dry socket incident which was not pleasant) and I have a very low pain threshold.
