2 year old- readybed on holiday - first time tips?

Hi, we are going away and have bought a blow up readybed for our 2.5yo as he's outgrown the travel cot. However he still sleeps in a large cot bed with bars at home, and he is silly! Grin Has anyone tried a readybed on holiday for the first time and do you have any tips to keep him in bed / help him settle?

He currently sleeps in a sleeping bag but I guess with a readybed we shouldn't use that as he may try to get up and walk.

I can ask the hotel for a cot but the reviews said they only have tiny ones.

I don't know about the bed; my Dd could walk in a sleeping bag. I don't think Ds ever tried, he sat and called for me. Just be prepared for massive tantrums when you get back home and try to put him back in the cot!

I don't know what a readybed is, but on holiday or visiting friends/family, mine always just slept on a mattress on the floor, if we didn't have a separate room with single bed for them. To be fair, mine never really slept in a cot much. Worked absolutely fine, just position it safely (not under a heavy piece of furniture they could topple on themselves). Mine had a sleeping bag with feet, but they'll be absolutely fine in a normal sleeping bag. They figure out how to walk or they craw. Just be mindful it doesn't deflate during the night, I think that is the main risk with these sorts of inflatable beds over just using a normal mattress.

We had one of those for a bit, bought it when a hotel we were going to tried to charge us $50 a day for a rollaway bed! But DD was already in a bed at home so less of an issue and it got a fair bit of use afterwards for visiting relatives, she always slept well on it. It has a cover inbuilt doesn’t it, so no need for a sleeping bag. Worst case scenario, he’ll end up in your bed!

They can get quite sweaty so I'd put a cot sheet round the airbed bit under the readybed cover. The cover is quite flimsy too so i'd take a blanket and wrap in round and under the airbed to try and keep him contained. Maybe try it at home before you take him away so he's used to the idea before he has the excitement of using it in unfamiliar surroundings? I had one for visiting kids and someone usually sat with them until they went to sleep, even if they used to just being put to bed at home.
