I think I regret moving jobs

So, I have always worked in retail -I've always dreamed of having an office job. No late nights, no weekends, bank holidays off... what's not to love?!? Except I have recently started a job in an office environment and I'm just not sure I'm likening it at all. Everyone is so lovely and they have a great training set up but I just don't like it. Everyone keeps saying that I'll learn to love it but I honestly just don't know if I will. I miss the interaction with real customers and the training is unbelievably difficult ( I hate learning new stuff anyway) I've literally cried all day with regret especially because my old job has filled my old role so I can't go back.

Keep at it for at least 4-6 months. I really wasn't sure when I started my new job and swayed 50/50, nearly looked around for something else. But once it starts to feel more familiar it will get a lot better.

@lalalalahahaha oh bless you. This is a horrible feeling!
One thing I would say is it's difficult to adjust to shift work (even more so if you were part time) to office hours roles. On top of that, if you were customer-facing and now you're not, it seems tedious to only see the same faces every day.
But as PPs have said, you did want to do this for a reason so you owe it to yourself to give it a proper chance. Even three months (and that will go fast) will give you a good indication.
It might be helpful to write down the positives of this job and maybe the negatives too, vs the old job and really see if things align for you.
For me, shift work was hard to move away from, I loved midweek days off and I felt like 9-5 gave me no time, but now I got used to it I really love my weekends off and the ability to know I'm off when other loved ones are too. Also, with flexible working now very much a thing, you can find office based roles that work for you, maybe part time eventually or condensed hours, working from home etc which you never could have had before.
Good luck!

@loopyloutoo you're so kind. Thank you for you're lovely words. I just feel so overwhelmed with emotion. I miss taking the children to school, I miss picking them up, I miss seeing my mum in the morning for a coffee. I just miss my old, content life. I'm so annoyed that I didn't appreciate things more when I had it so easy ( by comparison)

Yes, I felt like this after changing jobs. I still do. I'm sorry, I can't promise you will learn to love your new job, but at learn you are gaining valuable new experience that could be useful for further employment, should you chose to move on in the future.
